FOX Friends: 2000-like recounts in multiple states?
Reported by Chrish - September 24, 2008 -
FOX and Friends continue to perpetuate the myth that voter registration fraud is America's most pressing election problem. Guest John Fund (long-time employee of FOX sister company Wall Street Journal) was presented as an expert, and his 2004 book Stealing Elections: How Voter Fraud Threatens Democracy, debunked by MediaMatters and reissued this year "revised and updated", was promoted. As with every discussion of election fraud on FOX, issues of vote caging, electronic vote tampering, and voter roll purges were not addressed.
With video.
Fund spoke with alarm of ACORN and cited various voter registration screw-ups and investigations around the country, tying the organization to Barack Obama, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for added fear factor. Fund predicts a 1/3 possibility of a Florida-like recount happening in 2008, but this time there are at least 14,000 lawyers ready to jump in (9k on Obama's team, 5k for McCain).
A graphic listed "Voter fraud types: Voter registration; Absentee ballots; Vote buying; Improper assistance with absentee ballot." No graphic listed the various types of ELECTION fraud as noted above.
Fund said that there are many new voters registered this year, which is good, but "so many of these new registrations are suspect or might fall through the cracks" that many won't be on the books and will be handed provisional ballots. In the event of close contests and recounts, those provisional ballots (those new voters, who are overwhelmingly Democratic, he did not add) will be the target of lawsuits to determine whether or not they are counted.
