Water Boy Cavuto Doing Exactly What the GOP Told Him To Do

Reported by Melanie - August 8, 2008 -

On July 29, Politico reported, in an article titled, GOP ready to link Obama to Reid, Pelosi, that Republicans will begin, "linking the Democrats’ presidential nominee to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and their reluctance to allow votes on offshore oil drilling." [...] "They’ll also begin to use 'Pelosi-Reid-Obama' in the all-in-the-same-breath way that Democrats now use 'Bush-McCain' — to make the parties’ popular candidates indistinguishable from their less beloved incumbents."

Well, Fox's Neil Cavuto obviously got the memo because he's been hammering drilling and Pelosi and Obama for at least a week, but given that Harry Reid has been quiet of late, a new memo must have gone out to stick John Edwards in his place. This from today (August 8, 2008):

Top of the show, with Bill Kristol, regarding the conflict in Georgia: It's "coming on a day that for Democrats, ah, you have a belated response from Senator Obama - to be fair he's on his vacation, just bad timing I guess - but you have Nancy Pelosi trying to sell a book with congress shut down and members urging a vote on drilling, and now, just, you have this John Edwards news breaking, ah, about an extra-marital affair. I would imagine, not a happy trifecta."

At 4:19 p.m. ET with Fox News Contributor Mark Lamont Hill: "But you know, the timing argument. I mean, you know, Barack Obama's on vacation, is in Hawaii, that's fine, it's his vacation but bad timing with this war erupting. And you have Nancy Pelosi signing books and not voting on drilling and shutting down congress, and now you have the Edwards stuff. That's not a good trifecta right there."

At 4: 38 p.m. ET with George McGovern: This "comes at a time when Democrats have not had the wind going their way, on the drilling issue and the flip-flops on Barack Obama, ah, a lot of people criticized, as you know, Senator McGovern, Nancy Pelosi for leaving congress on a five week break without a vote at least on drilling, yea or nay, and now of course we have the Edwards situation which, as you said, might or might not be a big deal. Um, bad timing? Bad week for Democrats?"

4:51 p.m. ET with Saul Anuzis, the head of the Michigan GOP, who "crashed" a book signing Nancy Pelosi held last night in Ann Arbor in order to ask her why she isn't back in Washington voting on off-shore drilling. The pictures say it all. Note the chyrons and Obama standing behind Pelosi in the second picture:

Comment: The mere fact that Cavuto apparently has no problem whatsoever passing himself off as a "fair and balanced news journalist" while "reporting" the "news" in a way dictated by a political party is reason enough to view him as one despicable human being.
