Bill O'Reilly, Karl Rove and Newsweek
Reported by Deborah - June 24, 2008 -
Bill O'Reilly must like having Karl Rove on The Factor since Rove may even be less popular than he is and tonight, when Rove , who has given new meaning to the adjective, announced that he thought Barack Obama was arrogant, he may have surpassed BOR's record breaking hypocrisy level. With so much in common, O'Reilly and Rove might have teamed up for some serious spin and distortion sessions during this campaign. Sadly, their emerging bond has been strained because Rove took a job with BOR's sworn enemy, Newsweek Magazine.
Tonight O'Reilly wondered if Rove believed the Newsweek Poll that has Obama leading by 15 points and also mentioned the Newsweek job and calling it a "far left publication.
Rove, of course dismissed the poll saying that Newsweek polls "habitually" favor Democrats. He claimed the lead was anywhere from "1 to 6 or 7" and then settled for "3 or 4 or 5". After the meticulous estimates, O'Reilly asked seriously, " Do you feel uneasy now that its a committed far left publication?" (Guess I missed Newsweek's announcement) Rove made a nice little comment about his new job and was sure to express his respect for the fine magazine that now writes one of his paychecks.
Then it was Obama time and O'Reilly, looking slightly amused, asked Rove about the ABC story claiming Rove called Obama arrogant at a private breakfast in D.C. Rove said he wouldn't go into details about his conversation at an off the record private club gathering but admitted, "Yes, I do think he's arrogant."
Here's what Karl Rove actually said about Obama. according to ABC News' Christianne Klein
"Even if you never met him, you know this guy," Rove said, per Christianne Klein. "He's the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini and a cigarette that stands against the wall and makes snide comments about everyone who passes by."
After Keih Olbermann gave O'Reilly both silver and gold tonight for his horrid treatment of George Carlin and his most recent attack on Newsweek, he revealed that Newsweek is hitting back with a poll on their homepage about O'Reilly's upcoming memoirs.
Once again, Bill O'Reilly is the cause of his own public humiliation. Maybe he could hire Karl Rove as a consultant since he had a lot of experience working with someone with the same problem.
