Fox Claims The Oil Crisis Began When "Dems Took Control of Congress"

Reported by Melanie - June 19, 2008 -

When George W. Bush took office in January 2001, gasoline cost, on average, $1.46 a gallon. But never mind that. During a segment on Fox's "business news" show yesterday (June 18, 2008), Neil Cavuto harkened back not to then (or beyond), but to 2007, "when Dems took control of congress."

Here are some screenshots from the segment featuring Ginny Brown-Waite (R-FL) who, per Fox, "blames Dems" for high gas prices. Note the chyrons and the pictures behind them.

Comment: Why not go back to when Jimmy Carter installed solar panels on the roof of the White House only to have Ronald Reagan take them down? Imagine where we'd be if that hadn't happened. Per Fox, ahem "news," this all started in 2007? Counting on a dumb audience or what?
