FOX and Friends: we "made" Mike Huckabee

After showing clips of comedians Conan O'Brien and Stephen Colbert claiming credit for "making" Mike Huckabee, FOX and Friends' hosts Alisyn Camerota, Gretchen Carlson, and Steve Doocy (with a nod to absent Brian Kilmeade) this morning 1/21/08 said they deserved credit - they were interviewing him even before he announced his presidential run.
Whether they were joking or serious - and they appeared to be as serious as they get - this exemplifies the problem of media consolidation and the few powerful people who craft the messages and information that we get. Contrast the coverage Huckabee has gotten - kind, glowing even, with little attention paid to his extremist positions - with the belittling and slamming heaped on John Edwards, look at the poll numbers, and tell yourself that what a few media moguls say doesn't matter.
