Shepard Smith Asks If OBL's Asking For Forgiveness From Iraqi People Is Sign Of Defeat?
Reported by Donna - October 22, 2007 -
Today's show on Studio B with Shepard focused almost entirely on the fires in Southern California. They took out a couple of minutes to get a report from Jennifer Griffin at the Pentagon on Osama Bin Laden asking the Iraqi people for forgiveness for atrocities in Iraq by Al Qaeda.
Griffin didn't say whether this was authenticated, but Smith said that some people are saying that this letter from Osama Bin Laden might be a case of admitting defeat of Al Qaeda in Iraq. Griffin said that wasn't so, it was far too early to admit to the defeat of Al Qaeda in Iraq.
Griffin said that OBL talks about mistakes and asks the Sunnis to join up with him. She reported that OBL said that God will help you if you forgive us.
Comment: Another short report on Osama Bin Laden with speculation by Smith (using the 'some people say') that this might mean the defeat of Al Qaeda in Iraq.
