Big Story reports that Cindy Sheehan will challenge Nancy Pelosi if latter doesn't move to impeach Bush within two weeks
Reported by Chrish - July 10, 2007 -
The Big Story today 7/9/07 was the usual collection of local, sensational, and tabloid news reports: the missing Wisconsin co-ed and the discovery of a body, wildfires in Utah, a NJ beauty queen being blackmailed with photographs, Katie Couric scolding a producer, more from Wisconsin, Chelsea Clinton's weight loss, and a fugitive doctor suspected of murdering his wife. Wedged between the beauty queen and Katie Couric was a segment on Cindy Sheehan and her challenge to Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
With video.
FOX Radio host Griff Jenkins interviewed Sheehan and appeared with Gibson to sum up Sheehan's position. He said she was moved to rejoin the anti-war. anti-Bush movement when the latter commuted Scooter Libby's sentence. She has demanded that Pelosi support the Cheney impeachment movement already in progress, and that Pelosi submit articles of impeachment against Bush within two weeks, or Sheehan will run for Pelosi's California seat. She is encouraging people to run against Democrats across the country, including Steny Hoyer, Rahm Emanuel, and Jack Murtha.
Jenkins doesn't think Sheehan can beat Pelosi, who won her last election with 80% of the vote, but he sees that she can "further divide the left." He named Code Pink as one organization that he thinks will "jump on the bandwagon for her."
Comment: This was pretty unremarkable but there was a definite undertone of derision, as with all reporting about Cindy Sheehan. It was also the only remotely possibly useful national reporting on The so-called Big Story.
