Andrew Card Booed So Loudly He Opts Not to Speak.
Reported by Marie Therese - May 27, 2007 -
The University of Massachusetts invited George Bush's former Chief of Staff Andrew Card to receive an honorary degree at this year's commencement exercises. Ordinarily such an action garners little attention - the degree is bestowed and the honoree rises to make a speech. However, FOXNews.com reports that the May 25th commencement exercises at U of Mass did not go as planned. Hundreds of faculty and students, irate that the University would elect to honor a man who was one of the chief architects of the war in Iraq, pinned "No Card" signs on their robes or held up signs saying "Dis - Card". When it came time for Card to receive his degree, the audience booed and shouted so loudly that Provost Charlena Seymour's remarks could not be heard. Card himself did not speak but merely smiled and waved at the crowd. The video below, originally posted on Raw Story, was shot and edited by the protesters.
COMMENT
I am sure that FOX viewers will be treated to endless replays of video clips of Card being booed, accompanied by bombastic, fevered stories about the "out of control" liberal academic world. Expect to see David Horowitz and Bernie Goldberg (and others) foaming at the mouth as they excoriate the University and the students, condemning them as spoiled kids tainted by their radical left teachers.
