We who must not be named get press in Murdoch's Australian

Reported by Chrish - March 16, 2007 -

One of News Corporation's Australian papers, cleverly named The Australian, has taken enough interest in the "FOX News gets dumped as not-legitimate news channel" story to print a rather lengthy article. News Hounds doesn't get formal credit - never! - but they know we know they know.

Who else could they be talking about, with a title like "Fox well in front of the hounds"?

It seems that the standards at the Australian are comparable to standards elsewhere in the corporation, i.e shoddy. This piece of writing gets several key items wrong in the article, including

"The left-wing lobby group MoveOn produced a documentary about the station in 2004, Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism."

Full credit for that production goes to Robert Greenwald and Jim Gilliam, of course. That we "first filter" monitors (who later formed News Hounds) were recruited through a MoveOn call for action is incidental.

Far-right FOX has been stung by the public repudiation by the Nevada Democrats and the Congressional Black Caucus and promises to fight back against "the far left." That this is a coordinated effort involving the full might of the News Corp empire and their allies in right-wing radio only serves to highlight the point that they are all about attacking their political opponents. Fair and balanced? Pffft.
