Why Is FOX News Doing Republican Rehab For Bernard Kerik?

Reported by Ellen - September 12, 2006 -

Once again, Bernard Kerik’s legal and ethical transgressions were swept under the rug by “real journalism, fair and balanced” FOX News. You may recall that Kerik recently pleaded guilty to accepting illegal gifts from a company associated with organized crime, a company that coincidentally was approved to construct a casino in New Jersey where a contact of Kerik’s played a key role in the approval. This is just the latest in a long string of questionable behavior by Kerik. But for the second time in a month, those lapses were overlooked while Kerik was given a pundit’s chair on Hannity & Colmes. He seems to have gotten the same hospitality on Your World yesterday, too.

Last night (9/11/06), Kerik received a hero’s welcome on Hannity & Colmes. “Good to see you,” Sean Hannity said warmly at the beginning of Kerik’s segment about 9/11. “When you heard the first plane hit, everyone else gets out of the way. The policemen, firemen, the paramedics go in the opposite direction toward danger and that’s what you did.”

Of course, one reason Kerik may have been so eager is because he is alleged to have used his ground zero apartment, supposedly for the use of exhausted 9/11 workers, for his trysts with two different mistresses. But nothing like that was discussed. Apparently, on FOX News, sex scandals are only of interest when Democrats are involved.

At the end of the interview, Hannity said to Kerik, “Thanks for being with us. We appreciate you being on board.”
