Gore Anxiety Evident On Big Story

Reported by Deborah - May 19, 2006

All the recent buzz surrounding the release of Al Gore's film has the people in FOX world seem a bit anxious about the prospects of him running in 2008. John Gibson had Susan Estrich on Big Story today to speculate how well Gore would do competing against Hillary for the nomination in 2008. 5/19/06

Gibson opened the segment calling Al Gore a "movie star" and commented that releasing a movie must be a "new fangled" substitute for the book that potential candidates usually write. Estrich claimed that if Gore were running, this movie would be a smart move but he still claims no intention of a run in 2008. Estrich said there's a " vacuum on the left" and Gore has the right stand on the war since he always opposed it adding that Hillary Clinton is no longer favored by the Left. The news that he's been polling recently was nervously reported.

Gibson brought up Gore's "huge fortune" from his early investment in google speculating that he could write a check to pay for the campaign and woudn't need to raise funds. He prodded Estrich for some estimates of Gore's wealth and she at first said "10's of millions" and then speculated that it could be 100 million adding that he has some strong ties in Silicon Valley. Calling him the "darling of the left" both acknowledged that he will be surrounded by people urging him to run.

comment: Now what sort of swiftboating could they possibly cook up for Al Gore this time around? Gore couldn't care less about his opposition and his public persona since 2000 has transformed so radically that he is now pretty much untouchable. Even Hannity's shtick about Gore " screeching and screaming" that he repeated ad nauseum for years has lost all credibility. Their problem is simply the fact that Al Gore not only refused to be defeated, he also managed to transcend any political motivations or need for public approval. His unswerving focus on creating positive change on a global stage has moved him beyond the destructive plans of his opposition. Yes, Gore in 2008 should make the opposition extremely anxious.
