US About To Exceed Debt Limit? No Big Deal To FOX News Reporter Megyn Kendall

Reported by Ellen - January 3, 2006

Less than half an hour after Republican strategist Terry Holt bragged on last Thursdays (12/29/05) Hannity & Colmes that one of Bush's accomplishments in 2005 was "getting spending under control," a FOX Newsbreak reported that the United States was about to reach its borrowing limit. The ever-vapid Megyn Kendall didn't report that this will be the fourth time in Bush's five year presidency that his administration will seek to raise the spending limit. Instead, she deliberately spun his record-breaking profligacy as business as usual.

First Kendall dutifully mentioned that the reason for going over budget was due to unavoidable and sympathy-arousing causes. "(Secretary) Snow cited events like Hurricanes Rita and Katrina as reasons for exceeding the spending cap."

Then she added, "Going over the cap is commonplace in Washington for both Republicans and Democrats. Typically, however, the party in power will wait until the last possible minute to actually raise the debt limit hoping to avoid a protracted cry from the minority party about outlandish government spending."

Comment: Kendall not only mischaracterized the Bush Administration's sky-high debt as "commonplace," she also made an effort to propagandise any opposition as pathetic partisanship.
