Fred Barnes Tries To Get His GOP Groove Back

Reported by Deborah - October 15, 2005

Fred Barnes was really trying tonight on Beltway Boys. He snipped, ridiculed, dismissed and distorted the bad news engulfing his party but his efforts were worthless.

He even repeated that Republican lie about Plame not being undercover which has been debunked. Barnes went on to say that if Fitzgerald wants to indict Rove and Cheney, he better have an iron- clad case or he'll be seen as another Ronnie Earle.

Then Barnes and Kondracke went after Harold Pinter and the Nobel Prize calling both anti-American. A snippet of a Pinter piece called American Football was shown as proof of Pinter's anti-American beliefs. Much of the 4 or 5 lines seemed more anti football than anti American but of course, Barnes probably picked the lines for the profanity which was bleeped out. The segment was closed with one of the Boys saying that the Nobel acceptance speeches will be like the Academy Awards.( Whatever that means)

Finally there was a very confusing segment supposedly about how Hollywood lefties are turning on Hillary Clinton because she's pro war. Then Kondracke claimed that a new series on ABC about a female President played by Geena Davis is really a lightly veiled endorsement of Hillary Clinton. Barnes agreed and the chit chat was silly and obviously a diversionary, petty swipe at the left to make them feel better.
