Fox Has Tom Delay's 'Out' All Ready

Reported by Donna - September 29, 2005

Today on Studio B with Jane Skinner substituting for Shepard Smith, she spoke with Judge Napolitano and between the two of them, framed the way that Tom Delay was going to get out of his indictment.

Skinner commented to Napolitano that Delay was not being charged with money laundering and Napolitano agreed. Napolitano said that he was being charged with forming an agreement with two other people to funnel money from corporations to Washington and back to Texas state candidates.

Skinner remarked that there was a paper trail, so he (Delay) couldn't say it didn't happen. But, Napolitano explained, it was a complicated law. They went to a video of Delay saying that these people did use his name, but, that he used lawyers.

Napolitano said that the prosecutor must say he intended to break the law, but with it being such a complicated law, he used lawyers as a way to show intent to follow the law. He added that there are so many different accounts set up by the Republican Party in Washington, Delay will say the money, that came from Washington and into Texas, came from individuals rather than corporations.

Comments: See, it's a complicated law, you can't expect the Republican Leader of the House to understand the law.
