Was Robert's Wife Falling Asleep At Her Husband's Confirmation Hearing?

Reported by Donna - September 13, 2005

While tuning in to watch Studio B from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. I was faced with the hearing of John Roberts. No talking heads, just the question and answer period for John Robert's confirmation hearing.

So, I listened, but I watched the audience. Behind John Robert's was his wife, dressed in a black, pin striped suit with a stern look on her pursed, thin lips.

Then I saw it, time after time, she yawned. Her eyelids drooped. She yawned again. She scratched the back of her neck and yawned again. One time she even yawned without covering her mouth. Her head bobbed a few times like she was trying to stay awake.

Later in the program, I noticed that while CNN kept the camera on the angle showing his wife, Fox did not. They switched to a different camera angle so that she did not appear.

Comments: Why did Fox change cameras? Did they notice that the wife was trying to stay awake? Is it hard to stay awake when your husband is being interviewed for the most important job in his life, for the rest of his life?
