Blowing In The Wind

Reported by Deborah - June 4, 2005

Patty Ann Brown had Rich Lowry, National Review, and Brian Bennett discussing the Gitmo story. Brown said that the reports were ambiguous adding that there were no reports of Qurans flushed but there was one report confirmed of a guard going outside a cell to urinate and the wind accidentally blew his urine back into the cell splashing a Quran. Brown noted the guard was reprimanded and moved and asked her guests if they thought the story was exaggerated.

Brian Bennett stated that there were only 5 confirmed cases of US military involvement compared to 15 reports of detainee mistreating Qurans adding that 5 confirmed is a very small number.

Rich Lowry said that we have nothing to be ashamed of and the guard who accidentally urinated on a Quran was changed to gate duty."We went out of our way to be respectful." Lowry continued that the US has more regard for the Muslim religion than our enemies do.
