Hannity Weaves Theme of Persecution

Reported by Deborah - January 4, 2005

Hannity would like Fox viewers to believe that the Indonesian tsunami victims are ungrateful enemies hating us while we reach out to them with open hearts. He also planted a seed of doubt about this disaster being God's punishment for a people who have sinned. Then of course, the Liberals were artfully woven into his theme of persecution accusing Hollywood liberals of criticizing the President and not giving generously enough. 1/4/05

Franklin Graham was a guest tonight to talk about the charitable role of his organization Samaritan's Purse which has raised a substantial amount of aid.Hannity was clearly baiting Graham to say something inflammatory about Indonesia and God's punishment citing an Australian minister who has said that that the Earthquake was a message from God. Graham would not be drawn into that conversation instead openly connected this earthquake to the end times from The Book of Revelations.

Then Bill Bennett appeared only too happy to assist by bringing up Hannity's great discovery of the Indonesian wearing a Bin Laden tee shirt allowing them to launch into a lament about the lack of appreciation for our generosity.Hannity mentioned reading about an anti american demonstration in Indonesia adding, "How do we sit through all that and still be as giving as we are?"

Then of course those stingy Hollywood liberals were exposed. At first it was only Sandra Bullock who contributed soon followed by Di Caprio and the list kept growing as Colmes started to enumerate the benefits planned. Colmes was pretty annoyed by this non story fabricated to smear liberals without basis.

Comment:After Hannity reported that the fish in Indonesia are poisoned from feeding on all the dead bodies, one would think that he would understand that this is not a time for his usual self righteous persecution fantasies. How about if we just concentrate on the humanitarian aid right now and drop the venom.
