Blair's Party Smashed in UK Elections
Reported by Melanie - June 11, 2004 -
Tonights BBC World News reports that results released today on recent UK elections show that Tony Blair's Labour party lost badly. Home Secretary David Blunkett said he was "mortified" Labour (Blair's party) had done so poorly and Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott said voters had given the Labour party a "kicking" because of Iraq. The BBC itself reported Labour "suffered it's worst ever local election results."
COMMENT: This was barely covered in the US press because it shows that the British people are reacting negatively to Blair's support of the US and the invasion of Iraq. Our administration wants to believe that all's well with the "coalition of the willing" and the US press isn't about to upset that apple cart!
