Your World joined the Fox News Trumpeters yesterday as it breathlessly discussed Donald Trump’s endorsement of Mitt Romney and pretended this was the big news that Trump pretended it was. Neil Cavuto interviewed Trump yesterday and called the endorsement, “a stunning, surprise announcement.” Cavuto asked, “Why Mitt Romney?”
Trump answered, “Miit has really stepped up more than anybody else.”
Cavuto asked, “Have you ruled out then a presidential run for yourself?”
”Certainly, if Mitt gets the nomination and he runs, I wouldn’t be running,” Trump said. But, “If for some reason something happens, then it’s open season after the show (Celebrity Apprentice) is finished… We had an amazing day today. There was amazing turnout, and I represent millions of people that are tired of seeing this country ripped off.”
Really, Donald? How do you “represent” those people? By shooting your mouth off in front of every camera you can catch?
Cavuto didn’t question it. He did note that Romney “didn’t suck up to you” and called Trump’s endorsement “a little weird.” But Cavuto didn’t mention how completely and utterly Trump had previously bad-mouthed Romney.
Trump disagreed that his endorsement was weird. He called Romney “very respectful… It’s really about who’s going to do a great job… I loved his performance in the last two debates. I thought they were great.” He said that if Romney keeps it up, he will “beat Obama very, very decisively in the debates, and I think, the election.”
Trump also went on to boast about how well he “understands” and “gets to” Obama. “Frankly, I called Obama very correctly for a number of years.”
Cavuto didn’t mention how incorrectly Trump “called” the birtherism. Nor did he inquire about that Hawaii investigation Trump boasted he was conducting into Obama’s birth certificate.
Instead, Cavuto seemed to agree after Trump said self-aggrandizingly, “This was a very important endorsement, and some people say it was the most important endorsement.”
Cavuto didn’t even ask who had said that. “Well, it gave (Romney) a boost at the right time,” Cavuto said.
Seriously- I know things about Romney that would make the Joker go “really?!”, and I haven’t heard one word of any of it being used against him.
