Hillary Clinton made a rare appearance on Fox News Wednesday. The interview was with Bret Baier. Every one of Baier’s questions told the viewers, “Don’t worry, we don’t like her,” but I think Clinton held her own nicely.
My “favorite” part? Baier pressed Clinton for details about how she’d handle the economy differently from President Obama, then interrupted her as she was still explaining.
Maybe that’s because Baier just couldn’t wait to get to the email "scandal" and the "question" of whether or not she'll be indicted. The emails took up about half the interview.
Watch it below, from the June 8 Special Report, and let me know what you think.
Do you like this post?

I’ve also decided that Bradford speaks another language. Although he is able find and quote the dictionary definitions, he doesn’t realise that he misused the words. A propensity for spouting off big words in sentences that make no sense is one of the more distressing symptoms of tea-party affiliation, as well as several forms of senile dementia.

Okay, Bradford’s lost me. I don’t understand what he’s saying, and I don’t see how his post applies to anything I’ve written. I do not recall posting nonsense or poor punctuation.
It sounds to me like mj has the right idea. At no point here has Bradford offered a single constructive thought. All we are hearing are angry, insulting comments that don’t seem to have anything to do with the subject at hand.

@ Kevin Koster: “Does he (Bradford Plows) have anything constructive to add here, or are we just getting a series of angry insults?”
Its the latter. This happens every election season: a series of unfamiliar persons shows up, usually with contrived and unfamiliar usernames (“Bradford Plows” what?), attempting to show us the error of our ways . . . they may start off attempting to be reasonable, calling themselves “independent” — but, inevitably devolve into name-calling (“like cockroaches the blind Obamatons”) before declaring victory (“You got schooled”.)
They usually go on for awhile, until the mods determine they have nothing to add to the discussion, and get banned — before returning under a new, and equally unusual, username.
What I find hilarious is their assertions of their superior intellect, coupled with their seeming inability at basic spelling and grammar (“conscience” instead of conscious, “your are” instead of you are, and “responce” as opposed to response.)
As for their specific motivation for doing this, I can only imagine its a combination of thinking their participation here will somehow influence the outcome of the election, economic need (the Koch brothers have been known to pay online trolls), and simple boredom . . .

Thanx mlp !
I was going to look those numbers up. As I recall, the Clinton administration also ended with a large current budget surplus which the GWB administration promptly switched into a large deficit (which they hid by keeping large spending items off the budget). How the Republicans can claim to be good economic husbanders beats me.
No argument but that the U-6 calculation is more meaningful, although I would tweak it a bit to remove people not looking for a job because they have alternative means of support (e.g. pensioners, people drawing down on their inheritance).

U-6 Unemployment Numbers?
When GWB took office U-6 was at 7.1% and rose to a high of 14.2% when he left office.
Obama, of course, started at 14.2% and U-6 is currently at 9.7%, despite a congress that has refused to do ANYTHING to help workers.
I have long felt that the U-6 calculation is far more meaningful than the U-3, but it needs to be applied to ALL presidents and administrations, even those supported and/or idolized by Republican morons.

Bradford: As my mother used to say, “insults are demeaning to the person hurling them”.
Left-wing pundits have been harping on the need to adopt the U-6 set of numbers for decades and they’ve done so regardless of who is in power. Better late than never, as the saying goes.
As a professional with over 40 years of experience, I’ve translated articles written by many specialists in macro-economics (professors, financial managers, directors of financial institutions) the idea being that they should be both substantively and formally good enough to pass through peer review before publication in international journals. Most writers seem to agree that a modest rate of unemployment (around 4-5%) and a modest rate of inflation (2%) may actually be good for an economy. Gives it flexibility and room to grow or something like that. Trends that were once viewed as totally harmful (e.g. unemployment, inflation) are now perceived having some positive effects. Not for the individual, but this is the world of macro-economics.
As for that copy and paste accusation, I double dare you to prove it.
PS: Just finished rereading a Sci-Fi book and it got me wondering what sort of time machine was used by the author. The dialogue on “the marks of a sick culture” ends with the following:
“Sick cultures show a complex of symptoms […] but a dying culture invarably exhibits personal rudeness. Bad manners. Lack of consideration for others in minor matters. A loss of politeness, of gentle manners, is more significant than is a riot.” (“Friday” by Robert Heinlein, a Del Rey book published by Ballantine in 1983, pages 240-242)
That’s a pretty good description of the current political climate in many countries including the USA.

Bemused, this is a poor piece of fiction.
The unemployment rate (U-3 rate) of 4.7 is misleading.
Which is defined as the "total unemployed, as a percent of the labor force…Correct ? Economist prefer the U-6 rate which is a more accurate portrayal of unemployment because it includes the underemployed and discourage segment of the work force… which in May remained at 9.7 (From CNBC not FOX). Where did you get “especially when unemployment stands at a level that most economists tend to consider equivalent to full employment” ? Probably pulled it out of your ass, or the equivalent MSNBC. Even Paul Krugman from the New York times agrees with me. Do the research yourself.
Barack Obama will be the first president in history who did not deliver a single year of 3.0 %+ economic growth In 8 years.
In reading your copy and paste…I noticed you don’t
relay on data very often even when making broad
assumptions. Your just not a Facts guy I guess. Me, I like numbers, Statistics and the correlation therein.
I’m a small business owner.. so foreign consumption and exchange matters to me.
Anyone who is conscience today ( as I assume your are)

Lame, sooooo lame, Bradford: a single dip in the jobs report after several months of pretty steady improvement is really not significant, especially when unemployment stands at a level that most economists tend to consider equivalent to full employment. Below a rate of 4-5% (often perceived as desirable due to the flexibility it assures within the system), pay levels start to rise when the supply of jobs dips below the demand. Put otherwise: employers must offer better pay in order to attract the people they need.
Further, the fairly slow but steady climb means that the result will probably NOT be a flash in the pan.
Anybody who was conscious in 2008 (as I assume you were) should know for a fact that the USA was in a very very very VERY deep hole at the end of the GWB administration. The Obama administration made some mistakes (they’re human, too) but the USA and hence the world as a whole is in a much better place right now.
PS: has anybody else noticed what seems to be a very significant increase in the presence of Afro-Americans on the Foxy talk shows? Alluvasudden, practically every guest speaker is black (not that I’m complaining, but that’s sooooo not Fox.

Funny to think that if the Republicans had super-delegates in their set-up, getting rid of the toad would be simple. The only reason the Democrats stick with them is to help avoid the possibility of some charismatic hustler swooping in and taking their electorate for a ride.

So looking at the month of May we see the last tick in a million ticks. But if we look at administrations divided by party we see a trend in the economy. And that trend ain’t republican.
Democrats believe in feeding back growth back into the system, growing it. Republican administrations are the bastard fathers of a thousand failed businesses.

Kevin,
Yeah, you’re making my point for me. Conservatives interpret or ignore the economic stats to fit their ideological bubble. Who said they don’t care about science? 😉
You can rarely just say the unemployment rate went up or down, say, by 1 point and reflexively claim it’s a good or bad thing, respectively, without analyzing the context, trends, and peeking behind the curtains as to what is making up the overall rate.
Look at your buddy Bradford singling out May like it explains all that preceded it and predicts all that will follow. 👍
Fox generally will only look deeper if it is making excuses for a Republican or trying to discredit a Democrat. Which is both our points.
Fox’s worst in the industry business news is all about political spin so it typically currently talks about labor participation, discouraged workers, and under employment. All legitimate topics but they stop there because, while there are warning signs, a deeper dive or analysis of context isn’t often flattering to their ideology.
