Fox psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow just destroyed the Duggars Friday night. Conservative pastor Robert Jeffress was left sputtering and yelling, “It’s none of your business!" At one point, he tried to smear the very conservative Ablow as a liberal. Most entertaining!
Not long after Megyn Kelly concluded her interview with Jill and Jessa Duggar about the sexual molestation they endured from their brother, Joshua, (and suggested the real predators were the media), the Hannity show hosted a debate between Ablow and Jeffress on the subject.
Ablow had briefly blasted the Duggars on Fox earlier in the week. On Hannity, Ablow spent much of the 10-minute segment shredding them again.
ABLOW: The family hasn’t provided anything like a reassuring story about treatment…
…As I understand it, they sent (Joshua) for treatment to – not psychiatrists, not psychologists, necessarily. They don’t really expand upon it. It’s an older man, apparently, who had (Joshua) do some carpentry with him. They were part of an organization that says they heal folks.
But listen, this is serious business, Sean. They didn’t say that they went to friends of Josh’s to find out, hey, did they have younger sisters? Has anyone else been hurt?
And the naiveté expressed by the parents – and the girls, by the way, just now. That this is all about them. They’re somehow being persecuted.
…The whole scenario doesn’t wash with me. I don’t know of any four people who can be sleeping and touched inappropriately – or five, if you include the babysitter – and not know it! What kind of story is this? It doesn’t even make sense!
Jeffress made some good points. But he seemed unable to do so without taking swipes at Ablow. Jeffress said he knows the Duggars and thinks, “They’re a wonderful family.” While he said he doesn’t know “everything that happened,” he added that Jill and Jessa “say they have forgiven him. They love him. They want to get on with their lives. And yet there are some people, even in the world of counseling, who just can’t accept that.”
Ablow shot back, “The church hasn’t always been perfect in its treatment of pedophiles, has it?” He also countered, “This is a great family? This is a family who turned their family into a sideshow. …Where’s the wonderful family that the pastor’s describing?”
“Well, I’ll tell you where it is,” Jeffress replied. “…They love their girls more than any of us on this panel do and certainly more than the left do. And I’m tired of the hypocrisy of the left, these crocodile tears.”
“This isn’t a political issue. I’m a conservative!” Ablow exclaimed. “I wouldn’t have turned my family into a reality show.”
“Well, that’s your judgment,” Jeffress rejoined. He said that Ablow’s criticisms of the number of children in the family “is none of your you-know-what business.”
But Ablow wasn’t through taking down the Duggars.
ABLOW: These parents say that they didn’t let their children hold hands until they were engaged? That’s bizarre. Can’t we just call it what it is? It’s bizarre! Controlling, manipulative, bizarre!
JEFFERS: …Do you hear the children bitter about it? Are they saying this was a terrible thing? I just saw two very happy and well-adjusted girls… It is none of your business, Doctor, to get involved with the choices these parents make.
ABLOW: Well, sure it is, because they’re a public family.
There was a second segment of this debate. But you can get the point from this one.
We’ve written many times about what a crackpot Ablow is. But he sounded darned reasonable here.
Grab the popcorn and watch it below, from the June 5 Hannity.
therapy hate speech.
Is it your business of Anthony Weiner posts crotch-shots? Or if Bruce becomes Caitlyn? A wise man once said , do not pray out loud , like those hypocrites.
Antoinnette … you mean a big overblown GOV’MINT agency should investigate Duggars? I mean, we all know real christians hate the gov’mint because the gov’mint hates christians, right? So it wouldn’t be fair to have a gov’mint agency investigate.
Bet this conversation is happening in churches all over the south as we speak.
EARTH TO BOB JEFFERS: if it’s “none of our business”, what the hell are they doing on cable televison??
.
Doc is hated by the left and now the right. Stick a fork in him. He’s done.
The Duggars should be investigated by child protection agency.
