Liz Cheney: Khalid Sheikh Mohammed Is Not a Criminal
On Sunday’s (11/15/09) Panel Plus on Fox News, Chris Wallace hosted a panel with Bill Kristol, Mara Liasson, Liz Cheney and Juan Williams to debate whether 9/11 terrorists -- Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other terrorists -- should be tried in U.S. federal courts. It was basically a showdown between Liz Cheney and Juan Williams – Liz Cheney did not disappoint those of us who expect her to mimic her dear old dad – she is, after all, a chip off the old block – but Juan Williams gets an A+ for bringing reason to the radical war-mongering that Liz Cheney represents. Uh, by the way – why are the Cheneys still talking? With video.

It’s hard to continue to put one foot in front of the other when you no longer know what not to believe in anymore. Due to his emergency appendectomy, Glenn Beck had been off the air an entire seven days. Seven days! That’s just enough time for God to create an entire Universe, and still have a day left over to get herself a pedicure.

Karl Rove Blames Obama Administration Lawyers “Who Do Not Love America” For Bush Administration’s Failure To Prosecute Khalid Shaikh Mohammed
I don’t know about you but when it comes to matters of terrorism and national security, Karl Rove is not exactly at the top of my list of credible experts. Political experts, maybe, certainly experts on dirty tricks, but it’s hard to forget that this is the same guy who played a role in the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame and who served as the right-hand man of the Bush administration which, despite their posturing about national security, ignored the President’s Daily Brief of August 6, 2001, titled “Bin Laden determined to strike in US” and started a war in Iraq based on faulty evidence. It’s also the same administration that lost New Orleans to Katrina. So why on earth would Fox News put on Karl Rove as the first guest on the O’Reilly Factor last night (11/13/09) to discuss the Obama administration’s decision to try five Guantanamo Bay detainees in federal court in New York City, if not to make political hay? Furthermore, as Rove himself as good as admitted, the Bush administration’s “harsh interrogations” torture of their prisoners is bound to be an issue at trial. Not that Bill O’Reilly brought that up. But he did have a stellar moment when he confronted Rove about the Bush administration’s failure to try supposed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed when they had the chance. Rove, classy guy that he is, blamed it all on liberal lawyers who are now in the Obama administration “who do not love America, who want to undermine our cause in the global war on terror and who will oppose the military tribunals.” Never mind that Attorney General Eric Holder also announced yesterday that five other detainees will be tried by military commission. O’Reilly missed that, too. With video.

Get Ready For Foaming At The Mouth Over 9/11 Trials
So a president entrusts our criminal justice system to handle one of our most serious crimes and the opposition not only opposes the move but is using it to attack him. Aided and abetted by the self-proclaimed "voice of opposition," the also self-proclaimed "fair and balanced" Fox News. Fox Nation, "asks," Should 9/11 Plotters Be Brought to NYC for Trial? and then surreptitiously answers the question by providing links to four obviously anti-Obama stories:
Obama Decision to Try 9/11 Plotters Drawing Fire
Does Holder Have a Hidden Agenda?
Boehner: 'Irresponsible' Decision to Try 9/11 Mastermind in Federal Court
Lieberman: 9/11 Terrorists Not Entitled to Federal Court Trial
Update: Sure enough, Live Desk has Martha MacCallum interviewing two guests, both of whom are attacking Obama's decision. One said Dick Cheney was right.
Hannity And Bennett Team Up To Attack Obama For Not Being Anti-Muslim Enough
Unrepentant bigot Sean Hannity got together with one of his past beneficiaries of Racist Right-wing Rehab, Bill “You could abort every black baby in this country and your crime rate would go down” Bennett, for a racial variation on the meme I posted about earlier this week: blaming President Obama for the attack on Fort Hood, wrapped up in a racially-charged, anti-Muslim package. With Bennett, Hannity played down the Fort Hood angle and accentuated the anti-Muslim slant, quickly followed by suggestions that Obama is too pro-Muslim, and concluded with a suggestion that Obama was tougher on a white Cambridge police officer than on a Muslim terrorist. Bennett, however, grossly overestimated the likely number of radical Muslims in the world, misquoted General George Casey, chief of staff of the Army, as saying that losing diversity would be a worse tragedy than Fort Hood and channeled Glenn Beck by falsely alleging that White House communications director Anita Dunn “admires Mao Tse Tung.” Hannity corrected none of Bennett's falsehoods.
