Fox & Friends Weekend previewed today’s Occupy Wall Street anniversary protests by turning the whole movement into a mean-spirited joke. Guest host Tucker Carlson pretty much set the tone when he introduced the segment with the sneering question, “How much has Occupy Wall Street actually accomplished?” The guest called upon to deliver the answer was Fox News’ resident comedian, Steven Crowder. Carlson showed off his own sense of humor, too, as he opened the discussion with a knee slapper: “It’s been a year. Can you tell the difference between the average Occupier and the mentally ill homeless? In that time, have you learned to distinguish the two?”
Crowder answered, “None. Whatsoever.”
After Carlson finished cracking up at the funny, he asked Crowder, “What did they accomplish? What would you say the movement has done in the last year?”
Crowder bills himself as “FoxNews’ brightest, funniest young Conservative mind,” and boasts about his “no-holds-barred style of comedy and poignant social commentary.” But he says nothing about being a journalist, a sociologist or anything else that might suggest any real knowledge of the Occupy movement. However that didn’t stop him from saying that it’s “important” to compare Occupiers to the Tea Party.
According to Crowder, the Tea Party ideals are “life, liberty, pursuit of happiness and, of course, Constitutionally limited government.” The Occupy movement, on the other hand, wants “more free crap.” Crowder added, “And so that’s why, a year later, Tucker, the greatest impact the Occupy movement has made on American society would be that of crime.” He suggested that he and Carlson could “follow the bouncing meth head” to repeat that Occupiers want “more free crap.”
After Crowder and Carlson agreed that there had been “thousands upon thousands” of crimes committed by Occupiers,” Crowder challenged “anyone to name me one from an official Tea Partyer.”
Well, you asked for it, Steve, so how’s this?
Mark Meckler, founder of the Tea Party Patriots, was arrested last December for trying to board a flight with a semi-automatic handgun and ammunition in his luggage.
In March, NBCSanDiego.com reported, that Michael Kobulnicky, the public relations spokesperson for the San Diego Tea Party, was arrested “in connection to a recent Fiesta Island assault.”
Last year, Gawker reported that Steve Stevlic, the head of the Chicago Tea Party, had been arrested for soliciting a prostitute.
Matthew Moynihan, 38, of Hendersonville, founder of Sumner United, a Tea Party group based in Hendersonville, TN was arrested in February for patronizing a prostitute.
In 2010, Fort Lauderdale Tea Party founder Danita Kilcullen was charged with a felony and jailed for kicking a police officer.
A simple Google search turned up those names pretty readily. But Carlson must have been too busy laughing at Crowder’s humor to do any fact checking of his own.
NOTE TO TUCKY
Why don’t you tell the masses about the feud between you and another conservative talker named Roger.
Anthony Trinca- Computer Fraud.
Scott Dekraai- Killing eight people.
Portland, Oregon chapter- Throwing draino bombs into an Occupy Camp.
Jacques Roy- $175 million in healthcare fraud.
Nova Guffy- Arms dealer.
Ezell Harris- Drug Trafficker.
Wade Page- Yes, he was in the Tea party.
JT Ready- Committed suicide to aviod arrest when the FBI had him on killing legal immigrants.
MCSO- Human slavery.
Steve Smith- Leader of the New England Neo-Nazis, who the Tea Party ELECTED INTO OFFICE WHEN HE GOT OUT.
Challiss McAffee- Assault with a deadly weapon.
I can keep going… I have a whole file on the Tea party that’s thicker than a japanese phonebook. I only pulled out a small portion of the more serious offenses.
You want the Looman Militia? You want the Skinhead element? How about that the Uncontrollables here in San Francisco are proven ties to the Bay Area Tea party?
I probably have more people in my file that’s been arrested from the Tea Party than all of Occupy. Hell, I probably have more on this list that that already if you can only include OWS’ legit offenders.
Don’t even try knowing more about this than I do, Crowder. You will lose.
