Megyn Kelly followed up her whinefest about critics of her Donald Trump interview yawner with an attack on Trevor Noah’s scathing takedown. Unfortunately for Kelly, Noah was hilarious and insightful while her interview was bland and dull.
As a graphic described Kelly’s Trump interview as “Tan vs. Woman,” Noah got to the heart of what was so wrong with Kelly’s softballs to Trump.
NOAH: The guy who wants to control the most powerful military in the world just said he doesn’t think it’s healthy to reflect on mistakes. And there’s no follow-up question? You just move on? That’s like if the producers of The Jinx heard Robert Durst say, “I killed them all” and they were just like, “Great! So, uh, what was it like growing up in Scardsdale?”
[…] Last night’s interview didn’t seem to be about journalism or the Republican party or even the election. It seemed like it was about two brands: Donald Trump and Megyn Kelly and whether they could forge a mutually beneficial partnership.
Noah also highlighted the moment when Kelly and Trump laughed together after she had nailed him on some of his attacks on her and he had said, “Excuse me,” with what he obviously thought was a winning smile.
“Excuse me?“ Noah said, incredulously. “That’s all your answer is? ‘Excuse me?’ We’re talking about misogyny, not a fart. ‘Excuse me?’ And, Megyn Kelly, I don’t get it. You spent months lambasting Trump for his sexist comments and now you’re just laughing it off? I can’t believe this. But Megyn Kelly just got negged by Donald Trump. He repeatedly insulted her and then all of a sudden switched it up with a little charm and just like that, she’s all smiles.
I admired Kelly for taking the high road against Trump. But not so with her interview critics. As Richard wrote yesterday, Kelly teamed up with Fox’s Howard Kurtz Wednesday night to blame her bad reviews on media bias. Yesterday, she went after Noah with a tweet, saying, “So grateful I have men like @Trevornoah 2 advise on how to deal w/gender attacks- I’m sure his life experience far better than mine on this!”
Noah may not have Kelly's life experience but he seems to have some principles she could stand to use.
