On Fox & Friends: Astro Turf Flack Defends Teabagging Survey As "Consumer Education"

One of the chief complaints of "Newsbusters," a site devoted to "liberal bias" in the media, is that the so called librul media doesn't identify the political association of its contributors and guests. But they really should hold their beloved Fox News to the same standard because Fox News is guilty of doing this very thing.. Earlier this week, on Fox & Friends, Dave Briggs and his guest discussed a new poll that shows that tea party activists are willing to punish those companies that support President Obama's policies. What the audience wasn't told was that the Fox News contributor, Deneen Borelli, has less than six degrees of separation from this poll. Not noted was her husband's connection to the cause being espoused by those who commissioned the poll as well as his and her association with this group. It seems that along with contributing to Fox, this Fox guest contributes to an organization with some mighty, righty views. But Ms. Borelli was able to explain it all in terms that made the agitprop seems like concern for consumers, so who cares about her politics!

Fox News Report on 2010 Tea Party Losses Leaves Out Sarah Palin's Role

Yesterday (11/26/10), Carl Cameron reported on what was introduced as "fine tuning" going on in the Tea Party in reaction to some of the 2010 electoral losses - think Christine O'Donnell, Sharron Angle and Joe Miller. Cameron painted the losses as due to a lack of proper vetting saying, for example, that Tea Partiers backed O'Donnell "unaware of her personal financial history" (no word on whether they knew she had dabbled in witchcraft). Now, according to Cameron, there's an effort underway to "recruit and train articulate conservatives with sound positions." But Cameron somehow never mentioned the role of his Fox News colleague, Sarah Palin, in the election, despite the fact that her endorsements of those candidates have been blamed for Democrats retaining control of the Senate.

Neil Cavuto To Trent Lott: I Love You To Death

By Brian

Would any journalist or reporter on another network say "I love you to death" to his/her interviewee? Neil Cavuto did just that in his interview with Trent Lott yesterday (11/3/10). When Lott spoke of a "lovefest" between Republicans and the Tea Party, Cavuto disagreed but said, "Trent, I love you to death. There's no way this is a lovefest."

Rove And Van Susteren Think We’re Too Unsophisticated To Know What “Sophisticated” Means

If it wasn’t so insulting, Karl Rove’s and Greta Van Susteren’s attempt to spin Rove’s “The tea party is unsophisticated” comments as a compliment would have been hilarious. Instead, the political power broker and TV host (each of whom would probably cringe if anyone called either of them unsophisticated) insisted that “sophisticated” is an insult that means snobby and elite. Of course, it means nothing of the sort and I can’t believe they don’t know it.

Megyn Kelly Accuses NAACP Of “Taking Shot” At Tea Party

Megyn Kelly is part of the official Fox News “news” line-up so one expects that she would be less partisan than the opinion folks like Bill O’Reilly and the gang on Fox & Friends. Just kidding folks! It’s clear that Miss Megyn can be quite clear about her partisan bias. But sometimes she can be more subtle in her approach as when she restricts her opinion to general affect, an occasional strategically placed innuendo, and one strategically placed "off the cuff" response to her interviewees. Her subtle approach to the daily dose of right wing agitprop was in evidence, yesterday, when Kelly did a piece about the recent NAACP report condemning racist elements in the Tea Party. Her opening was straight news about the report but done with the intense facial expression and the slow and careful enunciation of her words which seemed to signify her indignation that the evil NAACP would accuse beloved teabaggers of being racist. A fellow member of Fox’s stable of blonde female reporters, Shannon Bream, provided background which was “fair & balanced” in that she showed a response from the Tea Party. Kelly questioned the “timing” of the report in that it was released just before the election. But she saved her best for last when she responded to Bream’s comment that the “there are plenty of allegations that will seep out as we wait for more of a response from these groups…” There was nothing subtle about Megyn’s last comment about how "this isn’t the first time that the NAACP has taken this shot at the Tea Party.” Fox News “Fair & Balanced” yesirreee!!
