If you’ve watched Fox News since the news tonight, you must surely know that the hosts are adamantly arguing that the police killings of unarmed Eric Garner and Michael Brown have nothing to do with race. Or each other. Tonight, Tavis Smiley visited The O’Reilly Factor and vehemently argued the other side.
O’Reilly, like just about every other host I saw today, called Garner’s death – and the failure of the grand jury to indict police officer Daniel Pantaleo - “very troubling.” But, O’Reilly insisted, “I think this would have happened to a white guy doing the same thing, I don’t think it had to do with skin color. I think it had to do with poor judgment.”
Smiley argued that that was speculation. “There’s a pattern here and you are too smart,” he told O’Reilly, not to see it.
But O’Reilly dismissed the “pattern” by calling it “minuscule.”
“Tell the parents of these precious young children that it’s minuscule …If it were your child, you would not call this minuscule,” Smiley shot back. “Do you not see a pattern here where black life is being devalued here?”
No, O’Reilly didn’t.
Smiley said that in the age of Obama, what’s supposed to a post-racial society, it is now “open season, hunting season on black men.”
Watch it below, from tonight’s The O’Reilly Factor.
This is why I rank O’Reilly 4th in the network’s racism- Because unlike Hannity, Kelly, and a Gutfeld/Bolling tie for third… O’Reilly genuinely doesn’t seem to know how racist he is. Watters does, and he clearly enjoys every second of it, because he’s off the charts. But O’Reilly himself?
I think he reads one of those lines you’d find on a site like Stormfront where they say “It isn’t racism, it’s logic!” -And believes them. I really do.
Considering how lackluster the Secret Service is protecting the first black President and adding in the inability of Grand Juries to see anything wrong with whites murdering blacks; I’m guessing that the “Nuge” and thousands of other racists are rethinking whether or not they would be in trouble for assassinating the black guy in the "White"house. They just want their country back as they so often say.
All Gardner did was sell a cigarette. If you are a smoker I am sure you have had someone bum a cigarette from you. What if you said OK, but these cigarette cost me money so that will be 50 cents.
Would that be such a major crime? Sending 6 cops to arrest someone for selling one cigarette is crazy. For something that small why not just send one cop to give him a summons to appear in court? They didn’t have to kill him.
Cruise ships come into New York every week. You can bring in a carton of cigarettes tax free. What if someone offered to buy them from you. You could get killed.
i wonder where o’reilly got his statistics to prove what a miniscule problem police killing black people is. apparently the fbi can learn a thing or two from his ability to gather police data.
