Fox Business’ Stuart Varney apparently thinks he knows better than the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office that repealing ObamaCare will not increase the deficit.
On yesterday’s America’s Newsroom, Varney was asked by host Arthel Neville, “Do you believe that repealing Obamacare would increase the deficit?”
Varney replied:
No, I do not. Turn that around for a second, the President is basically saying that ObamaCare, in place, lowers the deficit over a long period of time. I question that because the rapidly escalating costs to the taxpayer of ObamaCare suggests that it will raise the deficit by being in place. So in my opinion, it is the exact opposite of the President’s position.
In reality, The CBO estimates repealing the Affordable Care Act would add $109 billion to the deficit between 2013 and 2022. Varney is wrong. Neville should have corrected him.
