Last night, Stephen Colbert hilariously mocked Bill O’Reilly’s continual hyping of his Super Bowl interview with President Obama - including, now, the auctioning off a signed copy of the interview notes. So Colbert has come up with his own auction: “the actual microwave oven I stole from Bill O’Reilly’s green room. …I had to folks because this carousel technically makes this a Spin Zone. That’s against the O’Reilly constitution.”
Yup, it’s really on eBay. All proceeds will go to the Yellow Ribbon Fund.
But first, watch the video below for some free laughs at O’Reilly’s expense!
4/12/18 update: The original video seems to be unavailable now but you can still have some laughs with this 2/20/14 Colbert segment about the stolen O'Reilly microwave.
Btw, Colbert’s Ebay auction for the microwave currently stands at a bid of $96,700.00. The BOR interview notes are at a current bid of $30,000.00.
BOR played the opening of Colbert’s satire in which he joked that, in the pre-Super Bowl interview, BOR had a lop-sided victory over Obama and how everyone is talking about it. But the thin-skinned BOR made sure to edit out the next part where Colbert highlighted how BOR himself just couldn’t stop talking about his interview. BOR then went on to describe Colbert as “mocking his charitable efforts” and started to call Colbert some name but stopped short. BOR did say that he appreciated the publicity but BOR couldn’t be bothered to return the favor by mentioning Colbert’s auction for charity.
Instead of deliberatley leaving out what Colbert is trying to do for the his charity by auctioning off the microwave, I think BOR should take up Colbert’s challenge and stop by his studio to autograph the top of the microwave with a big, fat Sharpie. I mean, seriously, would it kill BOR to get a sense of humor and play along for a good cause? Is his ego so uber-sensitive that he can’t take some good-natured ribbing about how he’s been constantly talking about his own interview? It would be good for both his and Colbert’s charities.
But, no, instead BOR does some dishonest/convenient editing and ends up looking rather churlish in the process. Hmm, it looks like BOR isn’t interested in helping raise funds for injured vets via The Yellow Ribbon Fund? Or to word it FOX “news” style – why does BOR hate injured vets? ;-]
BOR also made a snide mention that Colbert attended the State dinner for the French President at the White House the other night. This is par for the course as, in a Wed. night segment with Ed Henry/James Rosen, he also made sure to point out that Colbert and some others he has beefs with — MSNBC’s Al Sharpton, CNN’s Jeff Zucker (formerly of MSNBC) and NY Times’ Jill Abramson (who dared to criticize his “Killing Kennedy” books) — went to the State dinner. I’m not 100% sure (as I don’t have the recording) but it kinda sounded like BOR might have slipped in a fat joke at Abramson’s expense too – something about her not needing the high calorie meal they served? The whole segment with Henry was a snarky, juvenile mess that reeked of jealousy/sour grapes.
