“Grapevine” Pushes Faux Fox Fantasy About New Global Warming “Czar’s” “Socialist” Ties – Ewwww, Socialism, Be Scared, Boogah-Boogah!!
For today’s right-wing, socialist baiting is the new red baiting. Those who get this message don’t have a freaking clue about socialism other than what their gurus tell them which is that it’s bad – so baaaad. Obama was frequently accused of being a scary socialist – in addition to being a Marxist and Islamic radical – go figure!!! Fox, being the propaganda network for the right wing, is running with a report sourced from the Washington Times and being peddled, on Fox, by non MENSA member Republican Senator Jim (no gays in my family and God won’t allow global warming) Inhofe that Obama’s new Global Warming “Czar” is connected to a “socialist” group. Fox News now has an article "Obama Climate Czarina Was Member of Socialist Group's Environmental Commission” on its website. You just can’t make this stuff up – wait a minute, Fox News can!!!!

“Grapevine” Quotes Noted Islamophobe (Whoops – “Terrorism Expert”) In Order To Smear US Representative Keith Ellison
Fear of Islam is certainly a “trump card” in Fox’s “scary” deck. Like the red baiting that went on during the McCarthy era, it provides a handy scapegoat and diversion from the real issues besetting this country. It appeals to those who love to hate anybody or anything that isn’t part of their narrow social cohort and even narrower world view. Fox is the network that gives a forum to the Islamophobic Dennis Prager whose smear of Keith Ellison, on the Sean Hannity show, earned Prager a rebuke from the Washington DC Holocaust Memorial Committee. Right wing hate radio host Mike Gallagher has used Fox News to promote “Muslim profiling” at airports. And Fox is the only network who interviews and uses information from perhaps paranoid “terrorism expert” Steve Emerson, who sees Jihad as the cause of every act of destruction including the 1995 bombing of the Federal Building in Oklahoma City (Whoopsie), to support its anti-Islamic memes. So it’s not surprising that Fox, in promoting its Islamophobic agenda, turns to Emerson. And in so doing, they get to smear Keith Ellison – again.

Is Fred Barnes Homophobic Or Just Out Of Touch?
During the “Up and Down” segment of the December 20th Beltway Boys show, Rick Warren (not surprisingly on America’s “Christian” network) was given an “up.” Fred Barnes said that gay rights groups are “hopping mad” because of Warren’s promotion for California’s Prop 8 which outlaws same sex marriage. Not surprisingly, Barnes didn’t mention that many in the “pro-life” (anti-choice) movement are also not happy campers. A clip of Warren, stating that he was against changing a 5,000 year definition of marriage, was played. The clip was a nice reinforcement for the homophobes in the audience as Warren conflated gay marriage with incest and pedophila: .” I'm opposed to having a brother and sister be together and call that marriage. I'm opposed to older guys marrying a child and calling that a marriage.” Warren also said that he was against polygamy – a comment rich in irony as, at one time in the US, this was an acceptable “redefinition” of marriage. Kondracke took a reasoned view. Not surprisingly Barnes didn’t – and come to find out, he doesn’t seem to have a reasoned view of gays as evidenced by past commentary.

Culture and Media Institute’s “Grinch Awards” Who cares? Grapevine Does!
If there is any doubt as to the political leanings of Fox News, one has only to watch the “Grapevine” segment on Fox News “Special Report” to see evidence of a political agenda pitched to a specific group. This unbalanced reporting encompasses certain basic themes, chief among them being the culture war (persecuted or triumphant Christians/morally deficient liberals particularly gays), science (global warming is a hoax), and politics (perceived or real malfeasance on the part of Democrats while ignoring that of Republicans). “Grapevine” provides affirmation and validation for their core demographic. Because of this tilt, certain right wing organizations are given “pride of place” in “Grapevine” segments – one of them being, “The Culture and Media Institute” which is a project of the Media Research Center whose leader is Fox fave, Brent Bozell. So it was no surprise that Friday night’s (December 19th) “Grapevine” treated us to a little goody from those whose mission is “to preserve and help restore America's culture, character, traditional values, and morals against the assault of the liberal media elite, and to promote fair portrayal of social conservatives and religious believers in the media.” Like Bill O’Reilly, they’re “looking out for us!”
