O’Reilly and Crowley v. Colmes – A Lament on the Threat of Sonia Sotomayor to the Dwindling White Male Power Structure
Guest blogged by Julie
On Wednesday (7/15/09) on the O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly’s reaction panel to his Talking Points Memo consisted of Alan Colmes and Monica Crowley (how’s that plagiarism thing working out, Monica?) to discuss that mythical white male plight. Talk about the classic zero sum game!

Hannity Overlooks Issues Surrounding Anti-Sotomayor Witness
Frank Ricci, the firefighter at the heart of the reverse discrimination case that Republicans Fox News has used to paint Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor as a racist, was on Hannity last night (7/16/09). Despite Sean Hannity’s best efforts, Ricci declined to be pushed into attacking Sotomayor. Not surprisingly, however, white-rights enthusiast Hannity was so busy hailing Ricci as a modern-day Rosa Parks that he failed to reveal to the “we report, you decide” network’s audience the very relevant information that Ricci has quite a lengthy history of filing employment discrimination suits of his own and that when it suited him, he was for affirmative action before he was against it. Shannon Bream Discusses Reaction To Sotomayor From Republican Viewpoint Only
Fox News’ Supreme Court reporter Shannon Bream was a perky package of bias on yesterday’s (7/15/09) Live Desk as she gave a brief report on Sonia Sotomayor’s confirmation hearing that just so happened to fall in line with recurring Republican efforts to suggest she's a racist. It also just so happened that Bream reported only Republican reactions to Sotomayor and ignored Democrats as she concluded, “No one’s quite convinced yet with (Sotomayor’s) explanation” of the “wise Latina woman” comment. O’Reilly and Carpenter Jeer and Smear Latino Advocacy Group
Bill O’Reilly thinks Hispanics talk funny. The way they roll that “r” is just hilarious… especially when pronouncing the name of Latino advocacy group, Presente Action, the action arm of presente.org who, in partnership with Progressive Change Campaign Committee, are running radio ads in eight Florida congressional districts targeting Republicans who have either failed or refused to denounce some of Rush Limbaugh's hateful rhetoric about Sonia Sotomayor. Giggling conservative columnist Amanda Carpenter of the Moonie-owned GOP-mouthpiece The Washington Times was on hand to join in the “hilarity” and help spread the smears a little thicker. With video.

I reported yesterday about Fox News' predilection for showing the Republican questioners of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. Today, the special coverage with Bret Baier and Megyn Kelly ended as soon as Sen. Tom Coburn, described by Kelly as "the last Republican," concluded his questioning. She promised they'd return later for questions from Senators Specter and Franken, thereby implicitly acknowledging they'd be skipping over the three Democratic senators in-between (Whitehouse, Klobuchar and Kaufman).
