Shannon Bream ostensibly hosted a discussion about media coverage of Arizona’s anti-gay bill that its governor just vetoed. But Bream made it clear she thought the controversy about the bill was overblown. When guest Bernard Goldberg explained that businesses should not discriminate against customers, she asked, “Why not? Why not? This is America.”
Bernard Goldberg did a good job explaining to Bream last night what was wrong the Arizona bill. He said, "If you open a shop on Main Street, open to the general public, then you have to really serve the general public and you can’t say, 'Well, I’m not gonna serve these people but I will serve those people.'”
Goldberg tried to continue but Bream interrupted to say:
Why not? Why not? This is America. We all have freedoms. …Why would you want to force them to do business with you? Why not just go down the street and say, “I’m gonna spend my money with somebody who supports me and is kind to me and wants to help me and provide these services for me?”

How fast do you think she’d haul a business that discriminated against her into court?
