In case you need any more proof that Sean Hannity is a bigot, check out his blanket endorsement of Donald Trump’s attack on Mexicans.
In case you’ve been under a rock, Donald Trump’s odious comments about Mexican immigrants being drug dealers and rapists have cost him quite a bit of social and business capital. But he has scored with the Republican rank and file, according to several recent polls that put him in second place.
He's got some heavy Fox News hitters behind him, too. Megyn Kelly has helped validate Trump’s views. On July 1, Sean Hannity gave them his seal of approval.
Before either of his guests could speak, Long Islander Hannity suggested that he’s quite an expert on Mexican immigration because he’s visited the border “about ten times…. all the way from the Rio Grande, all the way to San Diego.” Oh yeah, and he was “sitting through that briefing with Governor Perry, of Texas at the time.”
“Tell me one thing that Donald Trump said that’s not true,” Hannity demanded of liberal guest Juan Williams, who put up a spirited opposition.
But, apparently, nativism is too important to Hannity to leave it to a one-on-one debate. He also enlisted Larry Elder, one of Fox’s crew of African American minority attackers, to make it two against one. In this case, Elder undoubtedly earned extra Fox credit for blaming Democrats.
ELDER: These borders are porous and not only that, a lot of Republicans feel that they’re porous intentionally, that Democrats want to change the electorate to make it more pro-Democratic and Donald Trump is unafraid of being called a bigot by saying these kinds of things.
As the argument with Williams got heated, Hannity declared, “Donald Trump is telling a truth that you cannot stand. …Donald Trump is right!”
It’s no big surprise that Hannity should so wholeheartedly take Trump’s side. For years, Hannity's radio show provided a forum for a white supremacist (later jailed for threatening federal judges). I have extensively documented Hannity's long history of promoting bigotry on Fox News, too. That includes enthusiastically hyping Trump’s birther dog whistles - while pretending otherwise.
Watch this latest example of Hannity’s bigotry below, from the July 1 Hannity.
There is a famous mouthpiece who fired his former maintenance worker and replaced him with another man for a lower rate. With the amount of work on his property they should ask for more money.
Yeah — kinda like the timing of the Charleston church shooting was bad for those who said there was no more racism, doncha think?
@doors17: “Didn’t Sean say he was changing his position on Immigration the day after the 2012 election defeat?”
Meh — rightwingnut talking heads say a lot of things.
Sean also said he would undergo waterboarding for charity.
Rush Limpballs said that if the ACA was upheld and still in effect after five years, he’d move to Costa Rica.
Rightwingnut talking heads say a lot of things; its no guarantee that they actually MEAN them . . .
.
1. Statistically, undocumented workers are less likely to commit crimes than citizens.
2. Speaking of rapists, it’s more likely an undocumented worker will be raped by an American citizen exploiting them knowing they will fear going to the authorities than the other way around.
3. Most of the undocumented workers ‘from Mexico’ aren’t Mexican so how can you claim Mexico is ‘sending us their worst,’ pinhead?
So happy 4th, Sean and Donald. Go off and get stuffed and wave the flag boasting how America is the ‘land of opportunity.’ Assuming you don’t have brown skin and aren’t desperately fleeing violence in Latin America, that is.
