In her new memoir, Hillary Clinton wrote that she had refused to attack Sarah Palin “for being a woman” in 2008, when Palin had first secured the Republican vice presidential nomination and the Obama campaign feared she might draw away disaffected Hillary supporters. But instead of graciously acknowledging and appreciating the kindness, Palin used the anecdote to smear and attack.
In her book, Clinton wrote the following about Palin:
The Obama campaign suspected that her nomination was a blatant attempt to scuttle their hope of welcoming the women who had vigorously supported me. They immediately issued a dismissive statement and reached out to me in the hopes I would follow suit. But I wouldn’t. I was not going to attack Palin just for being a woman appealing for support from other women. I didn’t think that made political sense, and it didn’t feel right. So I said no, telling them there’d be plenty of time for criticism. A few hours later, the Obama campaign reversed itself and congratulated Governor Palin.
So how did Palin react? With nastiness and disrespect.
On July 9th, Palin tweeted the following, along with a screen grab of the book's passage:
Tonight, on Hannity, she expounded on that insolence without pushback from host Sean Hannity.
At about 5:20 in the video below, Hannity asked Palin about the book, as if he didn't know how she'd likely respond.
Palin replied:
Well, team Obama has such disrespect for women, it’s kind of cool to see proof there that they are the ones who took that first shots in the so-called war on women. It certainly wasn’t the GOP. And then from there, of course, Obama’s administration, the agenda that is trying to make women feel less than adequate so that they would be dependent upon Big Brother Government to provide for them, trying to make women feel like they’re just not worthy, not capable of taking care of themselves. That’s the complete opposite of the planks in the Republican Party platform, that believes in competition, regardless of gender, hard work, and reward for your work ethic.
Classy, eh?
Watch Palin's ill-mannered rant below.
Oh, wait- Judging from Robert’s comment, he doesn’t get his info anywhere but Fox and Rush. Both of which decided to smear them for standing by the VP nomination of the election year opponent.
Because even that was somehow offensive to them. That’s the power of the (D).
I seem to recall that Ms. Clinton told her staff and supporters to cool it on that subject. I certainly don’t remember her staff and supporters (i.e. the elements over which she had some oversight) taking that herring and running with it.
I am, however, old enough to remember that certain elements within the GOP either giggled or laughed outright when it came to mocking a young girl in her early teens called Chelsea.
I trust that your double standard is due to a selective memory (aka wilful ignorance).

Excerpt:
“You tweeted on Monday, “Look who fired the 1st shot in the real ‘war on women. Hint: it wasn’t the GOP. See this excerpt from Hillary’s book.” The excerpt from Hilary Clinton’s book describes a situation in which she felt uncomfortable making a statement questioning the legitimacy of your selection as John McCain’s running mate as an attempt to use a woman to appeal to women voters. Really? You think this was the “first shot” in the war on women? You don’t think women have had to fight for every right we currently have, every opportunity we have? You don’t think women must continue to fight for these rights and opportunities which are constantly under attack? Well, let me tell you what I see from my house, Sarah. You’re the one who is fighting a war here, not just on women but on justice, enlightenment, and freedom.”
Well said, Miss Kimrey.
I’m thankful my fellow male species are not put in the same category as Dan Quayle for example. After she gave her speech at the convention which was well received it became obvious that her speaking skills were all scripted. Never once did she appear on the Sunday morning Meet the Press type shows after the Charlie Gibson fiasco on ABC News and the Katie Couric question of what do you like to read? It was a simple question and not the Chinese algebra that she displayed with her reaction. The McCain campaign knew they had keep her with the safety interviews of the Greta’s and other Fox hosts that would guarantee her the opportunity to give whatever the advisor told her say.
I would love to see her run, but for the reasons I believe that I gave above, I think it’s very unlikely, but I would love to be wrong and see her run. She would run her entire campaign from the Fox News studios and right wing radio and loving cheering pre-screened crowds with no chance of victory and she knows it which is why she’ll never run.
;^)
Remember, this is a woman who kills moose, and doesn’t blink twice! If she were from the putrid swamps of Louisiana instead of Alaska, she’d be shooting defenseless ducks out of the sky.
Hell, maybe she’d even have been adopted by the Robertsons by now.
Palin’s FNC idol, Slanthead Hannity, is hell bent to become one of daddy Phil’s clan. “Oh please, please Duck Commander, take me in! Soon, I’ll be living not too far away, over in Texas on my ‘little’ 40-acre ranch.”
Maybe Hannocchio could teach Sarah how to handle a shotgun? Oh wait… he admitted a while back (on the radio) that while trying to show his wimpy tennis-playing son how to shoot a shotgun, that he, Seanny, fell over backward.
So I guess they’ll have to stick to AR-15s. If young Patrick can handle that, then he needn’t ever worry about a popcorn attack while at the movies.
And as Slanthead well knows, AR-15s (he publicly admits to owning three, wanting more) are the weapons of choice in all circumstances. The latest school shooter — number 74 since Sandy Hook — used an AR-15! They’re great for taking out people!
