Sarah Palin’s War on Christmas book is out. To be honest, I thought she’d quit it before it got published. But I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that she had someone else do most of the work. Still, judging from her appearance to hype it on Hannity tonight, it seems to include just the kind of maliciousness in the name of God and country you’d expect from Palin.
Palin's book promotion was the second of two segments with her on Hannity tonight. I take it as a sign that her star has fallen that she came on near the end, right before the Video of the Day that concludes every show. That put her dead last in the prime time guest list. Even Dick Morris, returned from exile, got an earlier slot.
I refuse to name Palin’s book and plug it for her. But the second half of the title is “Great Joy.” For Palin, that means spreading hate with a vicious smile. And playing the victim. It doesn’t mean a whole lot of originality. “Constitution,” “patriots,” “freedom of religion” and, of course, “mainstream media, lamestream” peppered her remarks. The way they do no matter what subject she's talking about.
You really don’t need to watch the video to get the gist. But I’ll highlight a few key quotes:
Christmas, according to Palin “is the tip of the spear” for the greater battle, which is an “attack on our freedom of religion where we can exercise our faith. There are double standards being applied to those who wish to celebrate Christmas, for instance, in a traditional way.”
She went on to complain about “angry atheists armed with an attorney” who want to prevent "patriots" from acknowledging that “Jesus is the reason for the season.”
Funny, I was beginning to think bashing anyone who doesn’t celebrate Christmas the way Fox Newsies want them to is the reason for the season,
“The book is all about empowering Americans to be able to know what to do to stand up for our Constitutionally protected rights to exercise our faith,” Palin declared. She promised, with one of her icy-cold smiles, that there were some “jolly, Christmas-y ways of doing that.”
Ho, ho, ho.
