Rudy Giuliani was very busy on cable news defending the controversial comments from Donald Trump last week. Fortunately for him and Trump, Fox News host Maria Bartiromo was there to help!
Giuliani's visit to Fox News' Your World was just one of many TV hits last week in which he tried to turn Trump's self-destructive behavior into a media problem.
Host Maria Bartiromo began by helping Giuliani suggest equivalence between Trump’s thinly-veiled call for Hillary Clinton's assassination and the fact that Seddique Mateen, the father of the Orlando shooter, was seated behind Clinton at a rally in Florida.
“I found that so stunning because you know that nothing happens like that by accident,” Bartiromo said conspiratorially about Mateen. “It’s not like this guy just got in. It’s not the way the Clintons work or anybody works at this high level.”
Giuliani asked salaciously, “What brings him to Hillary Clinton? What is it about Hillary Clinton he finds so attractive?”
Bartiromo made another assist by noting Mateen supports the Taliban. She then asked – without doing anything to indicate she tried to find an answer – whether this was “a strategy on the Clinton camp” to place him behind Hillary Clinton “really prominent."
That was all Giuliani needed to suggest that Mateen should be the real scandal. “I also don’t understand why that’s a little story and Donald Trump saying words that the plain meaning of which are perfectly innocent. You’ve gotta, like, contort them to get her out. Do people really think that he was joking around? [sic] Where he was suggesting that they were gonna kill someone? That’s ridiculous.”
Bartiromo lent a hand again: “What was he trying to say? Come out and vote?”
“That’s exactly what he was saying,” Giuliani agreed.
Bartiromo noted that Trump’s comment was obviously not part of his speech and asked if Trump will stop ad libbing because “He keeps getting himself in these problems.”
“No, he doesn’t!” Giuliani insisted. “He isn’t treated fairly. The fact is they are making it impossible for him to carry on a campaign. The liberal media is making it impossible for him to carry on a campaign. Because they are twisting his words around and then they’re allowing her to do things that are completely outrageous.”
Giuliani continued, “We have, if the liberal media gets its way, we’ve got a criminal headed to the White House. Who has committed numerous crimes. For which I have put people in jail for far less than the things that Hillary Clinton has done.”
Bartiromo didn’t challenge a word. Instead, she opened the door for more media bashing. “Why do you think they don’t see it that way, the liberal media?” she asked.
Giuliani responded with another ridiculous comment: “Because she stands for what they want us to become, which is a European social democracy. […] They do not believe in the exceptionalism of America. They don’t believe in the work ethic of America.”
Rather than challenge one word of those unfounded, inflammatory accusations, Bartiromo validated them. “They want to get free stuff,” she said, repeating another Republican dog whistle, this one from Mitt Romney.
Watch the bias below, from the August 10 Your World.
How much more honoured would he be if he chose to make a stand for decency and truth against the forces of greed and inhumanity?
Personally, I think there’s more equivalence with how disgraced ex-congressman Mark Foley was seated behind Drumpf at a recent rally:

“How many of you people know me?” Trump asked those seated behind him.
Foley, visible just to Trump’s left, quickly raised his hand in response.
Giuliani asked salaciously, “What brings him to Hillary Clinton? What is it about Hillary Clinton he finds so attractive?”
Well Rudy, you could ask Foley just what is it about Donald Drumpf he finds so attractive.
Bet I can guess, though: Foley is a convicted kiddie porn purveyor, and Drumpf is already on record as saying he’d bang his 16 year old daughter if they weren’t related . . .

Watching Gabby makes me think of how fleeting fame is. Yes, it is kind of sad.
I’ve been watching Simone Biles since whatever the competition was before the Olympic trials (Nationals?) and she’s amazing. Yes, I saw her tonight and in the other competitions.
Is she a neighbor that you know? She seems like a very nice person.
In fact, the whole team seems lovely. Quite a contrast to 2012, when they all looked like mean girls, except for Gabby (who seems so sad this year).
Did anyone see my neighbor Simone Biles kick ass in gymnastic Olympics? Especially, The Vault.
When reality doesn’t meet ideology – as so often the case with conservatives – the only way to explain the disconnect is some kooky conspiracy theory.
