If Bill O’Reilly really cares so much about black youth being ill-prepared for jobs and advancement, why doesn’t he set up a black youth jobs program? That was the challenge from NewsOne Now host Roland Martin and it’s a good one.
Last night, O’Reilly seethed at his critics for labeling him a racist after he claimed that many African Americans are unemployable because they are “ill-educated and have tattoos on their foreheads.”
Today, Martin came up with a great response:
Martin said, “Since you’re so concerned about Black people and you’re so concerned about Black youth, I want you to launch the Bill O’Reilly Black Youth Summer Jobs Program.”
Martin continued, “I want you, Bill O’Reilly, to challenge your audience to create 100,000 summer jobs for Black youth across the country.” He added, “I want you to call Marc Morial, the CEO of the National Urban League” to discuss the group’s established Summer Internship Program.
Martin then said, “If Black youth don’t show up, if they don’t come there ready, I will shine your shoes in front of the Fox News building. So if Black youth don’t shine, I’ll shine your shoes, and I’ve never shined the shoes of any other man but my own.”
Martin showed a photo of O'Reilly with "GET PAID" stamped on his forehead. "Since you're talking about stuff stamped on the head, I've got 'GET PAID' stamped on your forehead," Martin explained.
If O'Reilly really cares about black youth, he'll take up Martin on this offer or embark on some variation of it. If not, we'll know that he's only using his "concern" as a fig leaf for race baiting.
