Whatever rancor may exist or have existed between Fox chief Roger Ailes and his three bosses, Rupert, James and Lachlan Murdoch, they have been put aside, at least temporarily, in order to keep Ailes in command for the next several years.
As we previously reported, Rupert Murdoch has announced plans to turn over 21st Century Fox, the parent company of Fox News, to his sons, James and Lachlan Murdoch. Ailes originally responded to the news by saying he'll continue to report to Murdoch - only to get smacked down on that score.
Now Ailes says, "I look forward to working with Rupert, Lachlan and James." Even though Ailes has reportedly called James Murdoch a "fucking dope" and butted heads with Lachlan Murdoch.
According to CNN, Ailes' old contract expired in the summer of 2016, shortly before the presidential election he will meddle in. CNN says about the new contract, "21st Century Fox declined to elaborate on the length or the value of the new contract, but a person with direct knowledge of the deal told CNNMoney the contract is for three years, expiring in 2018."
It will be interesting to see how this arrangement works out.
