Apparently, Roger Ailes is disturbed enough by the recent revelations about him in Jonathan Alter's new book, The Center Holds: Obama and His Enemies - one of which is Ailes - that he has issued a statement to Politico debunking the allegations. My personal favorite? Ailes denies having bombproof glass in his office to protect him from hostile homosexuals. Except that that's not exactly a denial of what Alter said.
From Politico:
Allegation: “Tales of his paranoia had circulated for years, like the time he tried to order bombproof glass for his office because he thought homosexuals outside News Corp. headquarters on Sixth Avenue might shoot at him.”
Ailes: “He says I tried to bombproof the office by ordering bombproof glass because I thought that homosexuals might shoot at me. First of all, Alter must be homophobic to even think like that. If a bomb goes off the whole damn building goes down, it doesn’t matter what glass you have. It’s a stupid accusation. I came into this office 17 years ago, the same windows exist and the blinds are frequently open.”
Sounds plausible, right? But Ailes is denying something Alter did not say. According to the Huffington Post, Alter's assertion was as follows:
He Tried To Bombproof His Office Ailes "tried to order bombproof glass for his office because he thought homosexuals outside News Corp. headquarters on Sixth Avenue might shoot at him (he settled for drawing the blinds instead)."
Although Ailes blasts Alter for being "homophobic to think like that," and that bombproof glass wouldn't stop a building from "go(ing) down" he never actually denies any facts that Alter reported: that Ailes tried to get bombproof glass but couldn't because he was worried about being shot, not bombed.
Possibly an error on Ailes part but it could also be a clever, Nixonian ruse. I'll report and let you decide.
But what also struck me is that Ailes issued the statement to Politico. According to Fox News "mole," Joe Muto, whose memoir about working at Fox just came out, Politico is an organization non grata at Fox:
Sometimes entire organizations were given lifetime bans. The website Politico wrote something a few years back that rubbed Roger the wrong way (we were never told what exactly the transgression was) and word went out to all the shows: No more Politico reporters as guests. Also, any anchors who mentioned the site on air had to use the phrase “left-wing Politico” — an absurd designation for a publication that usually played it down the middle.
The fact is, I used to see Politico reporters on Fox News but it's been many years since I last saw one on the "fair and balanced" airwaves. I have seen the website's legitimacy more recently called into question, however.
So I've got to think that Ailes must be pretty darned upset to forget that he doesn't speak to Politico!
This paranoid clown barks orders like a king, ordering his servants to do as he says-or else. Sending emails telling his servants what he wants them to say and do.
The News Corporation security, in their nice clean company-issued coats, opens the glass doors for this clown. We are surprised they don’t bow to this clown. Security checks employee ID’s to make sure you work at this fraudulent outlet. They don’t want uninvited “guests” inside the studio.
The Nixon-trainee isn’t the only one who is paranoid. The Fox “News” mouthpieces and their amateur producers are also paranoid nutcases. Out in the field, they get paranoid when other media is taking photos of them. They will ask that person about their media affiliation.
When the Fox “News” frauds are on the road covering presidential debates and conventions, they beef up security at their make-shift studio-which range from rented bar and grills to universities. Those area are usually fenced in with security detail that resembles rented wrestlers. Security is stationed at front entrances where the frauds are broadcasting.
To keep the paranoid frauds from eating out in public like normal people, a private catering company is hired to feed the flock by setting up a buffet with beverages.
These frauds are indeed paranoid, and they do read Newshounds.
NOTE TO AILES
Your Ailes Apprentice Program is a joke. Diversity? What diversity? All we see is ditzy blondes like Kelly and Carlson dressed like ladies of the evening.
I’m not so sure that’s a joke after reading this.
Besides if he’s really that paranoid he need not worry about homosexuals or black helicopters, we have drones now.
