Racial Insensitivity

FOX Friends further fracture fable

As Brian Kilmeade said this morning 1/28/08 on FOX and Friends, all these controversies, contrived or otherwise, and wide-eyed reports of endorsements and "schisms" within "dynasties" are good teevee, "...great for us, it's like a soap opera." Today the trio repeatedly touched on Kennedy endorsements for Barack Obama and the implications for Hillary Clinton, and the alleged injection of race by the Clintons into the campaign.

Republican Strategist Hopes For More Racial Polarization

Republican strategist Rich Galen admitted that for him, partisanship trumps patriotism when it comes to racial relations in the United States. On Saturday night’s (1/26/08) special Hannity & Colmes, Galen told Alan Colmes that he (Galen) hoped that Barack Obama’s big win in the South Carolina primary meant that there will be more racial polarization in the country because it would be good for the Republican Party. With video. Updated.

Dick Morris: The Clintons Deliberately Lost Black Votes In SC In Order To Create White Backlash

Once again, “fair and balanced” FOX News chose Dick Morris as the sole guest to smear, I mean analyze Hillary Clinton, this time in a discussion titled, as the lower third indicated, “Obama and Clinton battle over link to questionable businessman.” I’m sure it was unintentional that FOX News posted the question about both candidates while offering no real ties between either candidate and the questionable Tony Rezko. But the discussion was soon off to the races as Morris offered his novel theory that Bill Clinton was deliberately running a losing campaign for black votes in South Carolina in order to racially polarize the country and garner more of the white vote. With video.

Sean Hannity Plays The Race Card Against Barack Obama And Blames The Clintons – Again

I think that FOX News and Sean Hannity are afraid to attack Barack Obama with the same zest with which they have gone after the Clintons. Whether it’s because they’re afraid of looking like bigots (although they’ve long ago outed themselves to us in that regard) or because Obama is so appealing that they’re afraid the mud will wind up on their own faces – or maybe it’s both those reasons – their Obama attacks have not reached the crescendo one would have expected by now. So what’s a seasoned smearmeister like Hannity to do? Cook up a racist attack and blame it on the Clintons. This time, even Hannity’s conservative guests couldn’t quite get with the program. With video.

Hannity’s Pal Urges White People To Voice Racist Thoughts

Sean Hannity continued to obsess about unfair “double standards” held against white racists last night (1/22/08) on Hannity & Colmes. Still fixated on Rev. Calvin Butts’ remark, “Go to hell, white man” that the African American Butts made several years ago to Rudy Giuliani in the wake of a racially charged trial (the two reconciled long ago), Hannity was all upset, not about the consequences or even the importance of racism, but about the fact that white people can’t “get away” with saying the same kinds of things Hannity abhors from black people. Hannity’s favorite African American, the Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson came to the rescue: “I’m giving white folks permission to speak up,” he said. Then Peterson compared Barack Obama’s pastor with the KKK. With video.
