Fox News “Democrat,” Pat Caddell, was more vehement with his Republican talking points than the Republican strategist on the panel.
We’ve long noted that Caddell is a Republican in Fox-News-Democrat clothing. But Fox continues to disingenuously present him as a Democrat, probably because it gives them yet another opportunity to promote GOP talking points while feigning balance.
FoxNews.com describes Caddell as follows:
Patrick Caddell is a Democratic pollster and Fox News contributor. He served as pollster for President Jimmy Carter, Gary Hart, Joe Biden and others. He is a Fox News political analyst and co-host of “Political Insiders” Sundays on Fox News Channel and Mondays at 10:30 am ET on “FoxNews.com Live.”
On yesterday’s “Political Insiders,” the panel discussed the upcoming session of Congress, with a focus on the soon-to-be Republican-controlled Senate.
Republican Brad Blakeman said, “Republicans need to be strategic. They need to play chess instead of Russian Roulette like they did last year.” He hoped the Senate, House and president would “work together in good faith.” If they do that, Blakeman said, “Then the new year will be very good for Republicans and Democrats. If they start playing shenanigans… it’s not going to be good for either party.”
But “Democrat” Caddell, though he agreed about the need for Republicans to be strategic, wanted them to play harder ball.
CADDELL: The problem you have to worry about these Republicans, though, is that they will just flat out surrender which is what they have done in the past, except when Ted Cruz led them off the cliff. The problem is, the president’s breaking the law and now we find out that there are going to be Social Security benefits and Medicare for the illegal immigrants who have been granted this status at work, which is against the actual statute of the law and the question is whether the Republicans are prepared to lay the groundwork between now and say, February, to take the president on, on an issue in which the president is on the wrong side of public opinion.
So far, what the Republicans have shown on this issue, on foreign policy and everything is that nothing’s gonna work. And to Brad’s point… it’s a nice Christmas wish and Santa Claus is not going to bring comity between these people. Barack Obama has busted that already.
In fact, public opinion is not particularly against Obama and the overwhelming majority of Americans feel that Congress should pass an immigration bill rather than overturn Obama’s actions. As for the benefits granted to immigrants, experts believe Obama’s actions will result in a modest gain in federal coffers.
But rather than challenge Caddell, “neutral host” (and birther) Heather Childers interjected, “Yeah.”
Caddell continued attacking Obama:
He has already torn the country apart. That’s all he’s interested in. Whether it’s Ferguson, immigration or whatever, it’s to divide America and he has set his course. Now the question is, can the Republicans find smart backbone and to turn the country…
Childers interrupted to say admiringly, “Those are some strong words.”
