ISure enough, last week there was Fox News outrageousness over Prince's death, Curt Schilling, Harriet Tubman and more. So put on your thinking caps, dear readers, and choose among Bill O'Reilly, Dr. Ben Carson, Rep. Steve King, Sheriff David Clarke and more for the Most Outrageous Quote of the Week.
Anti-immigrant Rep. Steve King, denigrating Hispanics who call him “racist”:
"I talk about the Constitution and the rule of law, American destiny, American exceptionalism, and I don’t know how they define, what race they actually define themselves as. I think most of them would say that they were Hispanic. […] I think they need to get a little more precise utilization of the English language to assert such a thing."
Bill O’Reilly, coming up with a strategy to “sell” Donald Trump’s wall along the Mexican border:
"Here’s the bottom line on the wall. The wall would save thousands of lives. Maybe millions of lives, because it would prevent the coyotes, these are the human people smugglers who rape, who beat these people up, sometimes kill them. These are the poor migrants trying to get in here, I mean it's a harrowing, harrowing business…
…That’s how you sell it."
Dr. Ben Carson, complaining about Harriet Tubman replacing Andrew Jackson on the front of the $20 bill:
"I love Harriet Tubman. I love what she did. But we can find another way to honor her."
Sheriff David Clarke attacking Hillary Clinton for saying she carries around hot sauce.
"I'm surprised she didn't say watermelon. Just go all the way.”
Emily Jashinsky, on the decision to fire Curt Schilling by the “media elitists” at ESPN:
“[It was] an act of contempt to their audience, because their audience believes in what Curt Schilling believes.”
Bill O’Reilly exploiting the death of Prince to suggest President Obama is responsible for drug abuse in this country:
"it’s simply stunning that our culture has evolved to a point where the sale and use of hard narcotics is now acceptable. President Obama's leading the way on this, classifying drug dealing, hard drug dealing, as a, quote, "nonviolent crime." That sends a signal to the country that, you know what, it may be illegal to sell drugs, but it's not all that bad. And the left is generally supporting the madness."
"You don’t have to be a Republican or a Democrat to understand we are being raped in this country by illegal aliens and our kids are the victims."
