As I write this, police and protesters are still clashing in Ferguson, Missouri. But while CNN and MSNBC are still providing live coverage, Fox ended its live coverage at midnight, Central Time.
Here's a screen grab from Fox:
Notice how the screen notes that the footage is from 10:09 PM but the time stamp of the broadcast says 1:09 ET? That would be 12:09 in Ferguson.
But here's a grab from CNN that shows the coverage was live at 12:12 CT:
Same with MSNBC:
As they say, a picture is worth a thousands words.

Carole, I’m pretty sure OTR was only airing live during their regular time slot. Shepard Smith did a few hours (two, I think) at 10 PM ET and then it reran.

OTR is there right now and apparently were there last night. Caught it while surfing channels.
Their big story right now is that protestors are coming in from out of state.

As of 2:25 AM Eastern, CNN is still live— not fully from Ferguson since the reporters have been chased out and things have largely dissipated there anyway, but CNN international with cut-ins from Ferguson every few minutes.
To be entirely fair, Fox simply doesn’t have the reportorial infrastructure for this. CNN has at least three correspondent crews in Ferguson, and Fox hardly has three correspondents. (I kid, but really) They’ve got Mike Tobin, who’s barely capable of doing a couple packages a day and can’t begin to carry hour upon hour of live coverage.
CNN has skilled and charismatic live coverage veteran anchors/correspondents Don Lemon and Jake Tapper, plus the bumbling but sincere Ed Lavandera.
CNN may also have had Anderson Cooper earlier in the evening with his enormous production entourage, but I only tuned in sometime after midnight and didn’t see him.
Fox is NOT an actual news network. It’s a talk show network with a handful of correspondents. Nor is MSNBC, although It can rely on NBC correspondents for backup. This kind of live coverage is CNN’s meat and potatoes— and they’re doing an extremely good job of it tonight.
