Bill O’Reilly thinks Donald Trump’s supporters are a lot like #BlackLivesMatter protesters. But guess which ones were demonized and which ones were not?
The pretext for the discussion was Bernard Goldberg’s contention that most Trump supporters are not like most Americans. According to Goldberg, most Trump supporters are “angrier,” “more frustrated” and “more alienated with the political system” than most Americans.
Goldberg added that Trump supporters “are so wrapped up in his magic that they think not only that he’ll win the nomination and then the White House – and he may win the nomination – but they think that most Americans think the way they do. But the evidence is that most Americans don’t.”
O’Reilly disagreed. “I’m not an extremist in any way, shape or form,” he said, before suggesting that he is so fed up with the system for not passing his anti-immigrant Kate’s Law that he can empathize with Trump supporters.
“Trump knows that millions and millions of Americans have had it and that he’s going to mobilize all of those people,” O’Reilly continued. “It’s a lot like #BlackLivesMatter and again, he’d be horrified. The #BlackLivesMatter crew, they basically hate their country. They hate it, alright? And there’s nothing you can say to persuade ‘em out of that. They hate it. Their numbers are a lot less than the Trump numbers, but it’s the same powerful emotion.”
“Right,” said Goldberg.
Of course, O’Reilly was implying that Trump supporters hate America, too. But he could never say that on Fox News.
