Apparently, Neil Cavuto got quite a bit of pushback after he raged at and cut the microphone of Democrat Julian Epstein over the weekend. Cavuto read some of the emails he had received about it on the air today. Many were appalled at his behavior, some supportive. Cavuto was not only unapologetic, he doubled down. Oh, and guess which blog was prominently featured in a graphic mashup of the reaction?
Cavuto said:
These issues surround us my friends, and to minimize their threat or slope them off as individual incidents, each bearing no resemblance to the other, makes a mockery of us all. That is why I got angry. That is why I interrupted Julian who is otherwise a friend. This is foolish, and that is why after repeated attempts to get him to shut up about making this a political discussion I simply decided to cut his mike.
Now some of you found that rude. But I found subjecting you to the same old tired back and forth talking points on what are now systemic assaults on our civil liberties, well that would be even ruder. So I did something I never do, I lost it, but for good reason.
This isn’t just a scandal my friends, or a series of scandals, or even scandalous behavior. I have no idea how high up this goes, any of this goes, only that it goes and goes and goes. Part of a business as usual pattern of assaulting the liberties we’ve apparently taken for granted. Realize what’s going on here, and whether triggered by a Patriot Act initiated under a Republican President, or one put on by spying steroids under a Democratic President, the results are frightening. Rifling through our taxes, collecting our phone records, spying our e-mails, our associations, our friends, our families, our lives. Now if this is not worth getting hot and bothered, frankly I don’t know what is.”
…Either we have (liberties) and enjoy them, or we do not. And the next time someone reduces it to a left/right thing, you bet I will cut in. And if they refuse to step back when I warn them, you bet I will cut their mike.
It's more than a little ironic for a host to defend preventing someone from speaking in the name of liberty. Furthermore, the “same old tired back and forth talking points” are a staple on Fox News and Fox Business Network: Obama is bad, worse and worst. Cavuto didn’t mind when Michele Bachmann accused Obama of deliberately letting Americans die in Benghazi because he thought it would help his re-election effort; had no problem when Fox Business Network’s Gerri Willis called Obama’s initiative to provide pre-school for all children “immoral” and Cavuto, himself, has said that Obama's intentions looked "sinister" and suggested that he was a bigger threat tof our country than China.
So beware of crossing Cavuto. But you’re probably only at risk if you’re a Democrat.
The video for this segment is below. As for the website featured in it, if you guessed it was News Hounds, you were right. You can see us starting at about 1:30 in the video.
Fox News couldn’t care less about corruption, or the truth. Yesterday, their biggest story was several of their hosts complaining that Gordon Hall, a Republican nominated head of office in Cincinnati, might be the one who instigated the IRS tracking.
Not only did they run multiple segments through the day complaining that Hall’s actions will be looked into next week, but three of their hosts personally said that they were going to target Elijah Cummings (a Democrat) for pressing Darrell Issa (A Republican) into including the lead in his inquiries.
Oh, and not one of them could be bothered to mention that Hall was a conservative, the same way they had to be pressed into identifying Shulman as a Bush nominee.
Fox News’ sole goal is to advance the Republican’s campaign agendas. Cavuto lost it with a guest who was hurting that on his show to the point where he had the guest’s mic turned off. He’s not in trouble- In fact, this probably got him considered for a pay raise.
It only took a decade for these right-wingers to realize what the Patriot Act was doing to there civil liberties. And the career politicians who are now railing against all this intrusion into our personal information are most likely guilty of voting for the very proposals that allowed this to happen.
So please save the outrage and indignation you now have for this stuff; we could have used your help a decade ago when they were implementing it.
I remember saying years and years ago that the Democrats better not go along with all these Republican ideas, because, the Republicans will just use it against the Dems and pretend like they had nothing to do with it. I feel like a regular Nostra-dumb-ass!
Example:
The “mandate” in the Affordable Care Act. Republicans insisted that it be included, and then they railed against it. In fact, the ACA is a Republican(R-money, Heritage Foundation, insurance Industry) idea.
Collection of data on U.S. citizens without a FISA judge’s OK. Now the Repubs are going crazy over that. Where were the investigations when George Dumbya Bush LIED and said you have to get a Court Order, while in fact He wasn’t getting Court orders.
President Obama keeps reaching out to the Republicans with compromised ideas where the starting point of his negotiations is somewhere slightly to the Left OR right of Rand Paul. That’s just stupid, Sir.
McConnell is still laughing at Harry Reid for trusting him to do something about all the Republican filibusters in the Senate. How’d that work out for ya? 4 out of 5 Doctors prescribe medication to people dumb enough to believe anything that Mitch McConnell says.
Nancy Pelosi said that the Congress wouldn’t pursue any action on the Bush/Cheney war crimes, despite overwhelming evidence, because the Country needed to look “forward.” Madame “former” Speaker, how’d that work out for you?
These Dems need to learn to fight back, like Julian Epstein does, and fight for what they believe in with the same gusto as the Republicans do, and I’m just not seeing much of that from Democratic leaders.
They have no class, no morals to speak off and are some of the most partisan idiots on the planet and they prove it just about every time they open their mouths.
Given his attitude, he should have been ex-communicated years ago. He’s a disgrace to the religion.
NOTE TO NEILY
Given the crap you spew nightly, someone in the control room should cut your wireless, duel lav microphones.
Oh, and FYI: If Cavuto gets Watters on loan to stalk the groups highlighted in his video, start here for how to press charges:

Intern, be sure to also tell Watters that this trumps his free speech. Mention Amanda Terkel if he forgot why he should have already known that.
