It's official. Megyn Kelly will move to prime time when she returns from maternity leave. This, despite the fact that her 1-3 PM show airing during what Fox calls its "objective news" lineup has been filled with bias, race baiting and Republican boosterism. On the other hand, this is probably exactly what got her the promotion in the first place.
From the Wall Street Journal's MarketWatch:
In making the announcement, (Fox chief) Ailes said, "Megyn is an exceptional talent who has successfully filled and surpassed each role we have given her at the network. Her ability to command the screen, delve into the facts and lead a debate is what makes her one of the most sought-after anchors in the business."
Oh, really? Was he thinking of the how Kelly promoted the discredited, race-based attacks on Attorney General Eric Holder? How she ignored the many falsehoods of ACORN "prostitute" Hannah Giles in order to gush over her work? How she overlooked the wrongdoing of Republicans during the recent filibuster of Texas' anti-abortion bill - in favor of demonizing Democrats? How she helped George Zimmerman's defense attorney demonize Trayvon Martin? Or how she helped legitimize Republican Senator Ted Cruz' McCarthyism?
We have noted times that Kelly has been fair and even a counter to the bias of some of her conservative colleagues. But, as I wrote in a post after Kelly received many accolades for confronting Lou Dobbs and Erick Erickson on their sexism toward breadwinner Moms, she is no reliable voice on behalf of women:
Remember when she helped rehab Mitt Romney’s “binders full of women” comment? When she characterized Sandra Fluke’s call for contraception coverage in health insurance as a sense of “entitlement” – as she allowed a guest to slut shame Fluke? Or how Kelly made her resentment plain when the Susan G. Komen foundation reversed its decision, after a public outcry, to cut funding to Planned Parenthood? We remember. Coincidently, supporting Mitt Romney and slamming Sandra Fluke and Planned Parenthood are all consistent with the Fox News Party line.
So there's no reason to think that Kelly in prime time will be anything but more of the same but with blonder hair and leggier legs.
The worthless executives at this fraudulent “news” outlet may squeeze this aging barbie into the 7 to 8 p.m. time slot.
Billy and Hannocchio are too old. They need to hire younger anchors to replace these aging bogs.
And Suzi… Jelly gushing? Dare I ask?
With her blonder hair and leggier legs, KKKelly will no doubt appeal to the geriatric nursing home guys who comprise Fux Noise’s core audience. However, the coveted 25-54 demographic will continue to slip away from Fux Noise.
