Last night, Bill O’Reilly called on his two regular Friday-night guests, Bernard McGuirk and Greg Gutfeld to give each of the presidential candidates advice for the upcoming debate. McGuirk said Romney needs to use “colorful language” and to take “a couple of cheap shots.” But, McGuirk added, “I’m not saying grab a prayer rug and throw it at the president.” However, Gutfeld – even though he was supposed to be advising President Obama – endorsed the idea. ““I am! I’m suggesting that!” Gutfeld exclaimed gleefully.
As you might expect. Gutfeld’s advice for Obama largely amounted to: Be a Republican. Obama should be “the guy that isn’t interested in getting anything free… Enough with Fluke… No more beach vacations… Be a guy… We want a president, not a camp counselor.” (Fluke-obsessed O’Reilly seized on the moment to relish Gutfeld’s advice to throw her “under a train.”)
Gutfeld continued, “He (Obama) should reject womb to tomb benefits…(tell voters) ‘I was just kidding. The last three years I was just joking. I’m for free markets. I’m for free minds. I think America’s awesome. I think everything that I ever believed in was a mistake. Occupy Wall Street? That was me. That’s not me any more. I’m sorry. Take me back, America.’”
I agree that Fox has been really playing this game of “Stack the Deck Against the Liberal Guest” lately – mostly due to what looks like growing panic about the state of the election. These guys thought they were potentially going to walk into the White House and have a majority in both houses of Congress again. Instead, they’re looking at 4 more years of Obama and at least 2 more of a Dem Senate, along with losing some ground in the House. (In reality, this will actually be good for their business – they do better when they can carp about the people in office rather than agreeing with them all the time.)
The most egregious examples of this have come with poor Joe Trippi, who’s been saddled with a couple of ridiculous situations with Hannity. During one of them this week, he finally stood up for himself, noting that he was being brought on to be the “Washington Generals” and calling Hannity out on not letting him finish his answers after Hannity petulantly yelled at him to hear the whole question first, among other nonsense.
Against an acting president? Hello, Secret Service!
After Romney loses the debates, what will they say then? That they “told you so”?
Great idea, Gutfilled.
I’m sure throwing things at the US President will go over well with the Secret Service {remember the response when the Iraqi journalist threw shoes at Dumbya?}
Gutfeld continued, âHe (Obama) should reject womb to tomb benefitsâ¦(tell voters) âI was just kidding. The last three years I was just joking. Iâm for free markets. Iâm for free minds. I think Americaâs awesome. I think everything that I ever believed in was a mistake. Occupy Wall Street? That was me. Thatâs not me any more. Iâm sorry. Take me back, America.ââ
Yeah — President Obama {who already leads in the polls} should take this advice from a failed wingnut comedian . . .
