Bemused: @ d d : all of them are cowardly weasels in my book. Only Paul occasionally referred to the need to comply with American values. The others are like cornered rabbits

I’d agree with that. It’s just at the moment I wrote that comment the viewers had seen a two-faced Cruz try to run away from the criticizing remarks he made about Trump (on audio leaked from a private fundraiser). He’s a shifty/slippery character and the biggest weasel in that whole group (IMHO, of course).

Didn’t watch any of it this time. However, from what I have read, it once again makes me ashamed to be an American.

My take on the GOP debate: total dismay … and embarrassment because I have to field a lot of questions from friends in Europe and elsewhere.
Everybody realises that those guys have thrown out the New Testament (kill! kill! kill! is not equivalent to “turning one’s cheek”; Huckabee can try to spin that idea all he wants… I DON’T BUY IT). Even Carson would carpet bomb civilians, most of whom are currently women, children, the elderly and the disabled. And he even claims that the survivors will be “grateful” (sounds a lot like a Mother Superior I used to hear about)
With the sole – albeit timid – exception of Rand Paul, they’ve also thrown out the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the USA: there are protections in there that they would restrict only to a few like-minded bigots. And yet the Bill of Rights starts with a statement about universal rights, No? I’m totally floored by the degree of disconnect that these candidates can create within the space of 10 seconds, let along a minute and a half. When asked about “how he would win militarily AND IDEOLOGICALLY”, Huckabee didn’t say one word about ideologically. It was all KILL! KILL! KILL!
All in the name of the Holy Bible of Christians and the founding documents of the United States of America. And the USA is increasingly perceived as a nation of cowering, trembling blowhards, posturing bullies.

Well, Roger Ailes and his staff have been up all night digesting last night’s CNN GOP debate train wreck and how to spin it. “Fox & Friends” is on so the results are in.
The curvy couch bobble-heads are gushing over the “depth” of the serious debate. Seriously?
We’re going to kill them all? How? Carpet bomb. Forgetting the morality – which is hard since it’s such a sick idea – we’ll be hated and watch even moderate Muslims shift to ISIS. Any boots on the ground? Don’t recall a lot of commitment on that topic at the adults table. These chest-thumpers have their fingers in the air testing the voters’ mood on that one. Talk tough, don’t commit. Lots of rehashing of strategies Obama is using like working with allies, hiring private contractors, using the FBI, etc. The Republicans pretend they’re fresh, new, and they just came up with them. In other words they’re all lying and blowing smoke up our asses.
Well, there was original thought from the freedom-lovers: Violate my right to privacy by leaving back doors in encryption. Because a Republican president would never abuse that. 😴
The only surprise is the curvy couch self-promoters haven’t trashed competitor CNN too much.

Yes, Graham was at the kiddie table debate.

duhh. I guess Graham was on the kiddie’s table.
marco: the over-exposure might actually put off a lot of people. In a weird film called “Borat” (I think), a fake visitor from a fake country in the eastern part of the former Soviet Union goes on a fantastically crazy rant that has the audience cheering until the gist of the rant started penetrating into their consciences. The crowd went deadly silent because they realised that what the speaker was saying wasn’t acceptable at all.

The freaking media has given so much time to these hate mongers trying to show the crazy that all it does is excite the crazy. I am so sick of Obama bashing. Please let Bernie and Hilary show their stuff. And if I had to look at Fiorina everyday, I’m on board with Trump on that.

EOF: Final round coming up. Any idea why Graham has been so content to stay in the background. Even Kasich and Fiorina protested but not a peep out of him.

Trump and Carson just promised not to run as third party candidates, for whatever that’s worth.

Bemused, yep, Trump’s a chump. But his Archie Bunker followers don’t care be because he’s their advocate mouthing off against everything they hate.

Who was the idiot who wanted more substantive talk (i.e. programs) from these people? Carson would make Europe dependent on the USA as the first step towards containing N. Korea. Christie and Bush would start what sounds an awful lot like an on-line game with China as the (ditto). Everything in terms of aggression. Graham is still silent. Trump’s a chump.

Bemused, think of the contrast.
They trash Obama for trying to reassure America.
Then they ratchet up the hysteria, construct bogeymen, and fear-monger. Which ends at the logical conclusion of bellicosity.

NPR discussed a poll. Yes, terrorism is top in Americans’ minds However, left unsaid by the candidates here and Fox News, they aren’t concerned for their personal safety.
That’s why all this Republican crazy talk is just that. Crazy talk.
