Nancy Pelosi’s suggestion that Qatar might be a good peace broker between Israel and Hamas is Fox's latest excuse to use its love for Israel as a pretext to hate on America. Instead of debating Pelosi’s proposal, Fox talking heads are in overdrive suggesting she’s some kind of Hamas supporter.
Any responsible reader of Pelosi’s remarks on CNN’s State of the Union last weekend would conclude that Pelosi was talking up the Qataris, not Hamas, when she said, "And we have to confer with the Qataris, who have told me over and over again that Hamas is a humanitarian organization, maybe they could use their influence to –" At that point she was interrupted by host Candy Crowley, who pointed out that the U.S. State Department labels Hamas as a terrorist organization. Pelosi gave a somewhat distracted “mmm-hmm” and Crowley abruptly ended the interview.
Two nights ago, Megyn Kelly displayed either a stunning lack of understanding of Pelosi’s remarks or else willfully chose to ignore their meaning and intent. Kelly sneered and jeered about Pelosi throughout a seven-minute, double interview segment. Kelly made such comments as:
- Nancy Pelosi seemed to suggest over the weekend that Hamas, which we recognize as a terrorist group, is actually out to do good.
- But why is Nancy Pelosi basing her characterizations of Hamas on what the Qataris are telling her? Why doesn’t she know? She’s in a position to know. Secondly, why is she describing them as a humanitarian organization?”
- But to go out there and paint them as, you know, The Red Cross.

Meanwhile, The Kelly File was not the only Fox show promoting this faux controversy. The Five and Hannity have also hyped this ridiculously faulty interpretation of Pelosi’s remarks.
It’s bad enough that Fox promotes hatred for its country 24/7 but to use a serious conflict like Israel’s Gaza offensive to gin up a phony scandal is irresponsible and unforgiveable. It shows you just how unscrupulously Fox works to advance both its anti-Democratic agenda and its hawkish pro-Israel agenda.
