So, it would be so wonderful if someone were to ask Carson, “Then, does this mean your poor performance in the GOP primaries and caucuses is proof that Republican voters are racists who don’t like any Black people?”
It should then be followed up with some more opportunities for Carson to put his foot even further in his mouth and to dig his political grave even deeper.

@ mj and mlp: Just to put things in real perspective, of the 20 Secretaries of State who’ve served since the end of WW2 (James Byrnes became Sec’y of State about 2 months after V-E Day and about 2 months before V-J Day but he served until Jan 1947), Hillary ranks #5 in terms of length of service in the post. (Hull was SoS during WW2 and left the post in Nov 1944 so he’s not in this list.)
What’s most interesting is that Hillary’s length of service exceeded Colin Powell’s service by less than a week, exceeded both her husband’s SoS’s (Warren Christopher and Madeline Albright) by about 2 weeks each and exceeded Condoleeza Rice’s service by 17 days.
Historically, only 17 Secretaries of State—out of 66*—have served for 1461 days or more (1461 days is the total of 3 regular calendar years plus 1 leap year; only John Adams and William McKinley have had Presidential terms that had non-leap year elections—century years, like 1800 and 1900, do not feature a “leap day”—so their Secretaries of State wouldn’t have a 1461-day “full term”).
*Two men served separate terms as Secretary of State: Daniel Webster who served two times (1841-43, 1850-52) and James Blaine who also served two terms (1881, 1889-92). Both men also served under 3 Presidents as the first Presidents for whom they served died in office: Webster served for William Henry Harrison who died from a cold or pneumonia a month after his inauguration; Blaine served for James Garfield who was assassinated 6 months after inauguration (oddly enough, Blaine’s third President was Benjamin Harrison, the grandson of Webster’s first President).
- is Dean Rusk with 8 full years (He started on 1/21/61 under JFK and left 1/20/69 with Nixon’s inauguration; Rusk also offered his resignation twice—first after Kennedy’s assassination and secondly, after his daughter married a Black man as many Southern politicians considered that to be a “flaw” in Rusk’s character.)
- is George Shultz with 6 1/2 years (He started in July 1982 under Reagan, replacing Alexander Haig, and left in Jan 1989 before George H W Bush took office)
- is John Foster Dulles with 6 years, 2 months (He started a week after Eisenhower became President and resigned in Apr 1959 for medical reasons—he died about 5 weeks after resigning.)
- is William Rogers with a little more than 4 years and 7 months (He assumed office days after Nixon’s 1969 inauguration and resigned in Sept 1973, largely as Nixon began relying more on his National Security Advisor, Henry Kissinger, for foreign policy decisions and operations.)
- is Hillary Clinton with 4 years and about 10 days (She assumed office after Obama’s inauguration in 2009 and left office in Feb 2013.)

But I really bet Watters would be singing a different tune if HIS phone were remotely unlocked, allowing the FBI and CIA and Homeland Security to gain access to all his “private” information.

It’s funny how readily Billdo is claiming to speak for Jesus but conveniently forgets the Jesus who’s described in the Gospels.
For starters, Jesus didn’t hold down a job. Seriously—read the Gospels. They all completely ignore his life between the ages of twelve (when Mary and Joseph find him in the Temple debating a group of rabbis) to about 30 (when he meets John the Baptist and starts his itinerant ministry). There’s nothing canonical describing any sort of income. He just walked around Palestine, preaching and feeding the masses and healing people. FOR FREE!!!!! (Maybe Billdo’s all in favor of “migrants” who work for nothing. He just gets upset when they start thinking their lives are worth something more than just “warm body.”)
Then, there is that whole ministry. Hanging around all sorts of people, many of whom were among the dregs of society but treating them as if they were kings and high priests. Traveling around in a group, but living off handouts with no steady source of income (like a whole bunch of Blanche DuBoises, “relying on the kindness of strangers”). The whole ministry relied on “loving your fellow man as yourself” and “turning the other cheek” and a lot less about a strict obedience to authority.
But, much like Reagan, I suppose Billdo has his own idea of who Jesus really was (well, at least as far as any evidence exists).

Ellen, I thought Kelly meant “idolized” as well, given what she said. BUT………..when you stop and think about it, “idealized” would actually work. It’s sort of the same thing you think of when you hear right-wingers describing their love of Reagan. They’re not describing the REAL man, but rather their “idealized” version of the man—the one they WANT to remember, rather than the human being with all his nasty warts and imperfections.
It really doesn’t take a lot to get from “idolize” to “idealize” given those circumstances. (Liberals and progressives may have a tendency to “idolize” certain figures but they’re far more willing to accept those people’s flaws and human failings.)

Jeff, you’re missing the point. Professional women rarely wear skirts ALL the time (as the women of FoxNoise apparently do). Especially not so they reveal as much THIGH as the FoxNoise women seem wanton wont to do. Women on other talk shows—as well as other news programs—wear slacks (something which seems verboten for FoxNoise women). Also, it was usually recommended that professional women wear skirts/dresses that reach their knees (so that when they inevitably “hike up,” there’s less thigh exposed). AND, you might want to consider how many teenaged girls are harassed in high schools for having the audacity to wear skirts/dresses that are deemed “too short” (mostly by middle-aged white men)—yet FoxNoise seems to promote the idea that their “news” women’s clothing is perfectly acceptable “professional” attire.
And, look at how the men in the pictures are seated. It’s so amazing how they’re all seated with their legs spread, having both feet flat on the floor. You’d think that at least one image would be captured of at least one man with his legs crossed. (I’m surprised that none of them are in classic “Al Bundy pose” with one hand down the front of their pants.)

@ Eyes on Fox: About the “pay banks to keep our money” point, a lot of us already ARE paying banks to keep our money.
There are a lot of banks that require minimum daily balances to have free checking accounts or unlimited access to ATM or debit card use. In my case, I’d opened a checking account some 30 years ago and had been paying a small fee (initially 10 cents and would eventually rise to 25 cents per check) to cover the cost of “processing” checks, but ATM use was largely free. About 10 years ago, I started noticing that I was getting hit by a small charge (IIRC, about 25 cents) for ATM and debit card usage—even with my own bank’s ATMs—after about the 3rd use each month (and the charge applied to EVERY transaction after that 3rd use). Now, at this point, I was using checks to pay most of my bills and using my debit card to pay for groceries so I was typically “paying the bank” $2 to $3 a month just to use MY money. It was also about this time that the bank stopped returning my checks with my monthly statement—all I’d get was a photocopy of the checks (to save the bank postage costs!—even as I was paying them a fee to “process” the checks; and the bank gets a presorted business mailing rate which can reduce their postage rate and adding 5-8 checks wasn’t going to increase their costs that much; figure 25 cents per check for 5 checks is $1.25—that much postage at the time was good for some 5 or 6 ounces; even today, it’s more than enough for a 3-ounce envelope).
So, I went to a local branch and found out there was an option for me to get COMPLETELY free checking and unlimited ATM/debit card use—which costs me absolutely nothing (provided I keep a minimum average daily balance—if my balance drops below that one day but is above it the other days, there’s no cost; and it’s a fairly low minimum—something like $5).
Of course, how long might I have continued paying these checking account fees if I hadn’t wondered why I was being charged for using my ATM—even as businesses were encouraging the use of ATMs?

Well, Ms Dolezal looked a hell of a lot more like a “Black chick” than this supposed “conservative Black chick,” Crystal Wright. mj, stop being so silly. Everyone knows that the US Attorney General doesn’t need any reason to indict people. I mean, who needs to file charges when a name is reason enough to indict?
Hey. Maybe we could send a recommendation to current US Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, to indict Guilfoyle? I know Guilfoyle would probably fight it, wanting to know the reason, but we could point out to Ms Lynch that Guilfoyle apparently thinks the Attorney General can simply indict people for no particular reason.

Well, w d, when you provide a news source that is NOT effectively an Israeli version of Fox Noise.Christian Broadcast Network, then please provide it.
Given your alleged willingness to have a “mature conversation,” it’s hard to believe it when you offer up such a biased source as your “evidence.” (The article source doesn’t suggest any sort of “serious experiment,” by the way. It’s ONE MAN’s conclusion which doesn’t exactly explain his “research”—and the IDF strongly disputes his BOOK. Oh, yeah. The article is effectively some ex-military guy’s shilling a book.)
And you might want to remember Pat Tillman, before suggesting that women’s role in combat would somehow be “disheartening.” (Oh, also remember that some men aren’t really suited or suitable for combat roles, but they don’t really get that option, especially with a wartime draft.)

Oh, sure, they’ll make one positive comment about a Democrat (after making ten negative comments). Well, that or however many “positive” comments the network provides for them to say (which will immediately be attacked by the other Fox “hosts” to which the “Democrat” will respond with “You might have a point about that” or some similar comment).

Gary, I suspect you’re something other than just a “newbie” (I’m thinking the “t” word).
For starters, tRump has appeared on FoxNoise at least 132 times (that’s per a Fox response to one of tRump’s campaign people). How much monetary value do you suppose would be attached to all those appearances? Granted, tRump isn’t getting paid that money, but you can damn well bet he’s getting a crap load of publicity when he shows up; those appearances are also taking time away from OTHER people—people who might have some genuine newsworthiness.
Also, it should be remembered that tRump PERSONALLY donated money to Hillary’s 2006 Senate campaign (as well as donating to both of the Democrats’ national US House and Senate campaign organizations in 2006 to the tune of $25,000). And tRump has donated to the Clintons’ foundation (well over $100,000). We’re talking about ONE man—not a COMPANY (corporations have boards of directors in addition to owners who decide on political contributions).
tRump may want to reline this avenue of attack. It’s not hard for his opponents to point out that if he’s going to attack FoxNoise (and, in fairness, the money does NOT specify the right-wing TV network but rather the overall corporation which includes the main network responsible for airing “The Simpsons” as well as the movie division responsible for releasing “The Martian” and “The Peanuts Movie”) for “contributing” to the Clintons, he’s going to have to explain why HE did the same thing.
