Perhaps Fr Johnny might want to take a minute and remember the words of the 8th Commandment: “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.” (Note: That’s the Catholic numbering—it’s the 9th Commandment for Protestants and Jews.)
He might also want to figure out how to reconcile all the years during which time he was working for a man and working alongside other men who were gleefully breaking the 6th Commandment (7th for Protestants and Jews) with his deep Catholic convictions. Let’s not forget that, in Jesus’s own words, a married man who even LOOKED at another woman with lust in his heart had committed adultery. (That was the thing that actually helped Carter win over evangelicals in 1976—his “confession” at violating the words of Jesus.) And Lord knows (pun intended), most of the big names at FoxNoise were breaking the 6th Commandment (7th for Ps and Js) many times. Was Fr Johnny just looking the other way? I don’t believe, under Catholic doctrine, that just any priest can offer forgiveness for sins outside the confessional (except in extremis—such as the deathbed).

Edwin’s right. It’s really absurd for Draft-Dodging Trump (maybe that can catch on) to even mention the word “foxhole” when he’s never been in one in the first place. (I doubt he’s even visited a military battle site—other than looking to turn it into a golf course.)
Then again, there’s that large batch of blind idiots who don’t care about anything Trump says or does—they blindly follow along in agreement.
ANYONE else—much less someone running for the “R” nomination as President—who dared to minimize the service of ANY veteran would have been turned to toast before the end of the news cycle. And ANYONE else who dared impugn a Gold Star Family’s actions—even a Family supporting the “opposition”—would likewise have been turned to toast before the end of the news cycle.
It just proves there’s nothing that Trump can say or do that will burn his bridges with his batch of deplorable supporters. I actually believe he could rape a ninety year-old wheelchair-bound Alzheimer’s-afflicted grandmother in the middle of Times Square and then machine gun everyone who tried to stop him and still not lose a single one of his followers.

Sorry, but I have lived through some major hurricanes as well and “melodrama” is NEVER acceptable.
“This moves 20 miles to the west, and you and everyone you know are dead — all of you — because you can’t survive it,”
This is EXACTLY the kind of shit that makes folks LESS likely to seek out shelter (or heed official warnings) in the future.
Now, there’s no doubt that storm surges are dangerous but there have to be very specific conditions for a storm surge to cause the kind of damage that Smith is hyperbolizing—and virtually none apply to Florida. For some of the barrier islands, less, a 20 foot storm surge would definitely put most of the islands under quite a bit of water—but for inland areas, they have to be close enough to a MAJOR body of water (such as a river, like the St John’s) for the surge to really have any impact as well as being VERY low-lying. Granted, there are a lot of idiots in the Matthew-affected areas of Florida who have homes and businesses built way too close to the coastline and these folks do have genuine cause for concern. But the way Smith’s talking here, he’s making it seem like places like Orlando and Gainesville will be as seriously affected as Jacksonville and the Coast. But here’s some fun information: Even Jacksonville won’t be seriously affected because much of the city is actually above what would be considered major flood zone areas. The St John’s River has a very narrow mouth—about 1/2 mile wide—and it doesn’t widen much more than that for a dozen miles. The River also has twists and turns and a number of islands for most of that distance, and then there’s a major bend in the River, turning south. But the River’s natural flow is from south to north. So combining all those factors, the bigger problem for flooding in most of Jax is from the heavy rains, rather than storm surge.
Again—this shouldn’t remotely minimize the devastation caused from storm surges but Smith was BEYOND irresponsible in his “reporting.” The man should be prosecuted for TERRORISM because that’s EXACTLY what he was doing.

Of course, what I’d love for Hillary to do when/if tRump brings up Benghazi is to turn it right back on him, and ask, “Well, Donald, since you seem to have all the answers, why didn’t you offer to testify before Congress and detail every single thing that you seem to believe I did wrong? I’m sure a man of your status would’ve been able to call up any of the GOP members on the Committee and gotten the opportunity to reveal everything you knew about Benghazi. Of course, that might’ve been embarrassing for you since you would’ve had to explain exactly how you knew anything about it. That would suggest the possibility of putting Americans at risk by bribing someone for classified or top secret information.”

Maybe Bolling should be reminded that the corporate tax rate before Reagan often exceeded 60%.
Now, if all the Congresscritters (especially the GOPers) who are so worried about US businesses going overseas to “escape” the tax burden really want to stop that, there’s a very easy method: Any corporation that moves overseas to escape the US corporate tax rate will be assessed with an ACTUAL tax rate of 95% on ANY AND ALL earnings made inside the US. And ANY individual who owns shares in stock in such corporations will be assessed at a minimum 50% tax rate (note—while this sounds extreme, it wouldn’t really affect many “common” people since few folks under the $250,000 a year income bracket will have enough shares of any stock to make it worthwhile as an income source; and anyone who shares off their stocks in those companies within, say, 90 days of the corporate move, won’t even have to pay tax on any of that “ill-gotten gain”).
Now, it might cause problems for Wall Street but plenty of foreign-based companies trade on Wall Street. The draconian tax punishment I’m suggesting would only apply to “fleeing” companies—not those who’ve already “fled” (though the latter group should be taxed at a higher rate).
Or, the whole tax code could be rewritten so that ALL foreign-based corporations (whether “refugees” from the US tax rate or those actually created overseas) don’t get all the tax breaks and exemptions they currently enjoy.
But no. The right-wing simply wants to cut taxes to nothing so the stinking rich get even stinkier while the rest of us wind up in some level of permanent indentured servitude. And all those “regular” folks who are supporting tRump and the GOP simply are too fucking stupid to see that. It’d be nice if someone could make them understand—if you’re over 30 and you’re making no more than $50,000 a year, you’ll NEVER get rich+ through “hard work” and “lower taxes.” You have to be BORN rich if you hope to “become” rich in today’s America.
+Okay—IF you’re lucky enough to create some sort of product or device that the public needs (or thinks it needs), you might get rich. But note—luck is NOT “hard work.” You could labor for a decade, investing thousands of dollars, in creating the product before seeing any meaningful results. And, in most cases, corporations buy up the rights to your product and you won’t see any more money (unless you have a very crafty attorney).

Ellen, I’m not sure you really get what the REAL problem is here.
Just a few bare weeks ago, the press was all in a lather about how Clinton was pulling some kind of “pay for play” with the Clinton Foundation donors gaining access to her as Sec’y of State. And yet, here, we have tRump actually engaging in “pay for play” (or, more accurately, “pay to stop play”) with Bond—not to mention how tRump boasted that he can get access to anyone, with just a little bit of cash involved.
Now, yes. What’s the point, Andrea? EVERYONE at FoxNoise is such an accomplished liar, not a single one of them could fail a lie detector test.
Sociopaths don’t have to worry about the physical responses which the polygraph records. They’re completely beyond worrying about lying.
As was noted on an episode of “CSI: Miami,” most lies are caught when the subject has to think about an answer (asking a relatively tough math question, for instance, sets a base response of “calculation” which, in turn, establishes a parameter for when a subject has to “think” about an answer). And, as Jackie noted on an episode of "Roseanne, " only complete sociopaths can fool the polygraph (to which Roseanne basically says, “good”).

@ ez: Varney CAN be deported. Naturalization does not lead to immunity from deportation. All it requires is the naturalization be revoked. Only people born in the US to parents who are citizens are immune from deportation. (Though, as the below website notes, a child born to naturalized citizens and who had citizenship conferred at birth may lose their citizenship if their parents’ citizenship is revoked.)
“Although rare, it is possible for a naturalized U.S. citizen to have his or her citizenship stripped through a process called “denaturalization.” Former citizens who are denaturalized are subject to removal (deportation) from the United States. Natural-born U.S. citizens may not have their citizenship revoked against their will, but may choose to renounce their citizenship on their own."

First off, on the “gossip” issue. Specifically the pieces about Gutfeld and Perino. The idea that Gutfeld might be gay is utterly repulsive. (Not that being gay is a repulsive idea—just that Gutfeld might be is. You straight folks are more than welcome to keep him on your “team.”) But, if Ailes thinks Gutfeld might be gay and Perino might be a lesbian, why would he then suggest they might be sleeping together? Does Ailes not understand what being gay and lesbian means?
Secondly, on the Dean Cain point. Unless Dean Cain joined FoxNoise and no one bothered to give details about his contract, Tantaros might want to just gloss over that whole bit (or, better, remove it completely from her suit). Reading the paragraph from the suit itself, it seems that the reference was not intended to attack Cain (rather, as an example of one of the “sock puppet” Twitter accounts) but that’s NOT how it seems on first glance. I don’t know how much input Tantaros had in presenting the language in the suit, but I would have used the phrase “as an example of the ‘sock puppet’ attacks” before the mention of Cain.
Cain (IANAL but IMHO) has a case of his own for defamation of character against Tantaros because of the implication that he sexually assaulted her (since her language reads “proceeded to inappropriately hug,” that’s not hard to presume some level of sexual assault).
